Y'know that security breach involving 40 million credit cards? Guess where I work?

I just cannot believe it.
I worked a shitty retail job for 7 years, left for a great higher-paying opportunity, and then this happens. My co-workers seem pretty grim about the prospects, given what has happened to similar companies' demises involving this type of security lapse.

I've been there a whole two weeks, and was just starting to feel confident about my training kicking in, doing tech support for the cc terminals.

Fuck it, gotta have a good weekend.

Sheeeit, I wish I was smart/knew enough to pull that off, I'd be making a hell of a lot more money.

Now, dude, since things look fucked anyway why don't you hook us up with a few dozen numbers for the NG community? Platinum only, please. ;)

I gave up on the credit card thing now. Until the industry cleans up its security act, no plastic for me.

I shall pay for everything in quarters.

Damn that's messed up. See this is why I keep all my cards maxed out and over the limit. Okay not really...

Looks like it's back to being a retail whore for you.

Dont feel bad, there's tons of us on here who moved on from IT.

Don't forget to straighten/face at your new job.

Dude, did you leave the store? I haven't been in there in a while. That kinda sucks if you left, but on the flip side good luck with your new job choice.

What exactly is your new job anyways? Do you work in a tech center or do you go to the actual stores and repair stuff?

I work in a tech center, fielding calls on twenty-some different credit card terminals, downloading config files for 'em, verifying transactions, etc. etc. It's a decent job, the pay's good, the training blows though...the reference materials on these leave a LOT to be desired, and you get thrown into the fire pretty fast, but I'm hanging with it.

I'm a lot more optimistic than when I originally posted this thread, turns out a lot of the initial reports were just scare pieces designed to get viewers/readers. Of the supposed 40 million potential fraud victims, only 68,000 actually had their files viewed, which is less than 0.2% of the MasterCards involved. I think it'll all pan out OK.
