MR. AND MRS. SMITH: THE BEST MOVIE THIS YEAR?

Mr. and Mrs. Smith > Revenge of the Sith by a factor of about 100 :).

I can't remember the last time a "formulaic" Hollywood movie did its job this well.

The movie was basically a newer, even more policitally correct version of True Lies, but it was also the funniest and best paced Hollywood movie I've seen in a while.

Also, about 5 minutes in, you get to see for yourself why Brad and Jen split (for real or not, you can't ignore the on screen chemistry of the two stars).

Whoever wrote this movie should be given the Oscar for "Giving the Public what it wants". Romance, action and comedy, with the caveat that you have to check the anaylitic part of your brain at the door.

Any of you NG'ers who have significant others would be well served to take your signifcant others to this movie, as you'll both leave the theater ENTERTAINED.

Many movies that would or should be "fun" miss the mark wildy. I will be surprised if this film doesn't do good business based on word of mouth alone.

Oh, and just for emphasis:

Mr. and Mrs Smith >>>>>> Revenge of the Sith :)

Short answer: No.

Long answer: No, Batman Begins is better.

Utter Nonsense.

And I agree with Buro Destruct.

Mr. And Mrs. Smith is nothing more than a popcorn movie, albeit entertaining, it lacks substance.

I might check this out....but from the trailers it appears to be a complete rip of a Bond movie. Any truth to that? I have trouble even believing it is as good as you say because I find most things Jolie is in have this uncanny ability to be mediocre.

Nothing like a Bond movie at all. I did like it. I didn't even like it better than Revenge of the Sith as the plot was utterly stupid, but seeing the action and the scene at the end made it worth it. I do agree Batman Begins was better than this one as well. I liked it more than The Honeymooners though.

wow this is surprising, except for vince vaughn, the movie looked terrible by the previews in the theatre, it looked like another stupid spy vs spy movie (remember how back ecks vs sever was?).

I think this might be a better rental from the way it sounds now.

I do need to check out Revenge of the Sith this week...probably will go to the first showing so I can hopefully avoid the idiots who come in droves at night.

Yeah, I stand by Mr. and Mrs. Smith being a sure bet as a date movie this summer.

As far as being a mindless popcorn movie, I agree as well. However, keeping in mind that this was a week after the movie opened, the theater was packed, and people erupted into applause at the end.

Compared to the kind of depressed indifference after Revenge of the Sith I and others felt, feeling the 100% opposite after a "popcorn" movie was nice. (and anyone who says SW was a "deep, meaningful movie" should probably be stabbed with a frozen burrito :).

As far as the comparison to BB, that was the movie I would have chosen to see, but I'm glad I didn't see it last night.

The batmobile looks hella retarded from the promos, and the gravelly speaking bruce wayne looked pretty funny as well. Will I still watch it? You bet. When? Mebbe in theaters, mebbe when I buy 2 for $15 prev. viewed movies at my video store :).

Smith looks OK. I'd be lying if I said I didn't wanna watch it. It looks like an entertaining movie for a weekend view to eat some popcorn.

But I can tell you right now.

Batman Begins > Smith/Revenge of the Sith, and probably Fantastic Four, almost definitely.

Don't bash Fantastic 4 yet man. I think it will work out. I hope.

And Mr. and Mrs. Smith is Assassin vs Assassin they weren't spy's.

I'll agree with you there. Batman Begins = Batman which is slightly > Batman Returns >>>>>>>>> Those other two pieces of garbage.

Well, I wasn't bashing the Four just yet. It's just that while the movie does look pretty cool, I don't think it will be able to stand up to something like Batman Begins, unfortunately.

Regardless, I'm going to watch it when it's released, though.

I can't get over how people still think Keaton is a good Batman.

He's a no talent ass clown who isn't worth a tin shit as an actor.

Do we see Brad's and/or Angelina's genitals in this movie?

If not, forget it man.

It was a major letdown. I was like Jolie shows her goods in like every film she is in. Yet she didn't in this one. It was cool though, maybe she wants a new image after what was the last one, Taking Lives?
