Playing Capcom games on a Candy Cab

Hey all, I am still pretty new to this. I currently have a neo geo 1 slot in my candy cab but I was interested in playing a couple Capcom games like X men vs. Street Fighter and Marvel vs. Capcom on it. I know about the whole suicide battery on capcom games, and I actually found someone on ebay selling both these games with the suicide battery replaced. My question is does the jamma harness get plugged right into the game itself, or do I need to buy some kind of board like my neo geo 1 slot to play these capcom games. Also my candy cab has 4 buttons on the top going across and then 3 on the bottom going across. I think only the top 4 are plugged in atm. Do I need to buy another kind of harness so I can use my bottom 3 buttons, and will I be able to assign which 6 buttons I want to use for the game. Thanks in advance.

Jamma and stuff

Check to see if your bottom 3 buttons are connected to any wiring. If they are the wiring leads to the kick harness which you have to plug into the capcom or naomi I/O to run 6 button games.

Kick harness can be found on ebay for around 10-15 dollars.

Many capcom and naomi games run audio through RCA out puts so you may need to hook up a external sound device such as a reciever or stereo. I Actually use a Altec Lansing Computers speakers when I run games like 1944 in my Neo Geo cab.

Many different games will run in a candy cab if it is standard jamma.

Try searching using the titles PCB and Jamma when looking for games for your cabinet

Hope this helps.

All those boards (CPS2, Naomi with Capcom I/O, etc) also output regular Mono sound from the JAMMA harness, so you can just use it instead of the RCA. Of course you'll get mono sound.

If you are using a Capcom I/O board with a Naomi, or a CPS 2 board. Can you just run the sound straight out of the RCA jacks on the board to a stereo, or do you require a Q-Sound amp?

The RCA jacks on the CPS2 motherboard output unamplified stereo, so connecting them straight to a stereo amplifier will work fine. My understanding is the Capcom Naomi I/O has a built in amplifier, so audio from the RCA jacks on there will already be amplified.

Remember to hit the test button on your CPS2 games and make sure Q-Sound and not mono is selected from the system configuration menu.

I looked at my buttons, the bottom 3 buttons have no wires going to them. I looked up on ebay kick harness, and theres someone selling a cps 1 harness and someone selling a cps2/3 harness. Is there a difference? I'm guessing since the games I'm looking to get are cps 2, I would need the cps 2/3 kick harness. As for hooking up the buttons, do I just run the 2 wires to each button and then plug the other end of the kick harness into the motherboard of the cps? And do I have to touch any of the wires from the jamma, or does that just get plugged into the jamma connector of the motherboard and the newly wired kick buttons go right into the kick harness part of the motherboard? One last question. Is it easy to find a cps2 motherboard for sale, or do they usually come with the game itself when people sell them? Thanks.

I think another member of this forum is selling just the A boards... Here it is http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122395 icoNsx is selling A boards for $25. I've bought from him, and he's a really cool guy, and an honest seller. Also, depending on what type of candy cab you have (if it's stereo or mono) you may have to fix up the jamma harness a little (unless you decide to use the rca audio). You don't have to do any harness modding if you have a one slot (any model to my understanding)... So yup... have fun.

CPS1 and CPS2/3 kick harnesses are different! Make sure to get the right one.
