Today I got 300 lbs on the bench. It was my new year's resolution to get 300 by the end of the year. Got it today, which is a great feeling. Now I'll have to aim for 315 or so by the end of the year? Sorry for the post, I'm just happy to get to the threes.

I drank a dozen Black and Tan's at the bar yesterday.

Best part though?

Wasn't on my tab.

I just took a toxic dump. I don't remember eating cabbage, but it was in there.

Dion would be very upset to hear about your cheating ways.

Have you no compassion for him?

Congrats! That's a pretty big achievement.

Nice, 8 replies and only one is positive (erm, two if you count Tonk's strange post). That sounds about par for the course.

C'mon Spikey - you know better than to expect praise about weightlifting on a video game website. I enjoy "pumping" iron ( :kekeke: ) myself, but I know better than to come here and ask for moral support for it. We're mostly a bunch of geeks (myself included), and for most of us exercise is not our favorite passtime.

Anyway, enough preaching, have you tried the new creatine yet? It's called "ethyl ester malate" or something like that. I've been on it for a couple of weeks now, and I've already noticed a difference. Also, it doesn't require any "loading" period, since it's supposed to be much better absorbed than previous types of creatine.

What kind of supplements are you taking?

When you apologize for your post at the end of it, you should probably expect some not-so-good results.

Doesn't creatine give you liver problems?
I'm afraid to use it X_X

Not as far as I know. Creatine is alright if you want to build muscle mass, but if you're shooting for lean muscle/endurance, it's not what you're looking for.

Congrats on the 300, you beast. Now I feel kind of guilty for skipping out of the gym for most of this week.

Haven't used nor heard of this new creatine stuff. Truthfully, I stopped using creatine about 6 months ago. It makes you retain water, and while it does so in the muscles as well, I'm trying to go for the look and not the strength. It makes you look not so ripped and a little more bloated, if anything. Which is funny, I've got a guy that works out with me and I'm telling him to use creatine (but he wants to be strong and gain weight, so our agendas are different).

The only thing I take are multi vitamins with things such as L Glutamine in it. Nothing else. I'm all natural, and have no desire to really take anything else. But vitamins are a must, as is glutamine and potasium.

Spike are you using anabolic steroids?

If so, where can I get some?

I think the "liver problems" came up after people thought that eating too much protein is hard on the liver to digest. Creatine is a natural substance found in red meat, for instance. So, it's not bad for you nor is it synthetic. But as Ely and I said, it's got it's pros and cons.

Of course this is a joke.... right? If you've seen pics of me, you'd know that no way in hell am I on steroids. Tempting, but I wouldn't actually want to take them.

Don't you normally get enough potassium in a balanced diet?

I've been thinking of taking 3g of l-glutamine everyday, but I don't know if it's worth it. I usually take a Met-rx protein shake after I finish at the gym, and it seems to help a little bit, and I eat 1-2 protein bars a day (only 100mg of l-glutamine in each one, 20g protein, 38g carbs each).

I've been eating 4000-4500 calories/day, spread over six meals for almost 2 months now, and have gained... only one pound :spock: It's kind of annoying since I'd like to gain about 15-20 more pounds for insulation.

As long as you don't completely bombard your body with tons of it, you'll be fine. Too much of anything will give you problems.
