what's really funny is that about the same day they released the
advertising campaign, there was a newspaper article about how
they plan on cutting 25.000 jobs by 2008.

it sucks to work at these places, would be like bestbuy giving everyone employee discounts, thats half the point of working at that hellhole.

well general motors is losing money left and right. hell they lost 1.8 billion according to their last reports. they are doing all they can to keep afloat. and even toyota is raising their prices to get buyers to turn away from them and to american companies. toyota says that if the american companies fell the auto industry could topple in itself.

But my car is fine. I drive American and mine should last me 3-4 more years.

ford and dodge make great cars, just as good as any japanese car (Viper, Ford GT, nuff' said), i don't think i'd buy GM though.

GM is probably the best company to work for in the Car Industry. That's a part of thier problem. They take care of thier employees and take care of them unlike Toyota who loves the permenant part time workers.

I'd buy a Hundai before I'd buy a dodge. At least Huyndai will give you a nice warranty. Both are worthless when they have over 100,000 miles though.

The problem with GM, Ford and DM is not the country of manufacture (As Honda and Toyota ship cars from the states to Japan) but the management.

Well thats because when they design cars in Japan they don't need to take into account the 300lbs people who need to fit in there.

I'll take Japanese or German car anyday over American.

They're all for the GM brands.

Anyone who's paid attention to the B-news knows that GM is having serious problems with market share. They're so desparete they're essentially taking a loss on all vehicles for a month!

I read a great business analysis article that illustrated the problem:
- Toyota and the rest test their cars for the Southern California market (hipper, more car savvy)
- GM has long based its car models on what people in Michigan want.

To put my own spin on their conclusion: The result are a ton of completely unattractive cars that NASCAR dad loves and no one else really wants.
