:spock: Probably need time to change the prices or something. It was the same way when they were selling I-Ninja for $8.99 last year.

Yeah. They had the same thing going on with the Arc the Lad PS2 (new $19, used $29). When I went to the store they were selling it for either $29 or $39. When I brought up the online store pricing, they said it was a mistake--sure enough, I saw the game price fixed to the store price a week later.

Those prices on their website probably isn't very accurate at all. I have a hunch. For example, they had MMXC for both GC & PS2 for $49.99, while the gamestop website has it for $29.99. And that's for pre-ordering. Really weird.

They are doing the higher pre-order prices now, so they don't get burned if the game is released at a higher than expected price. Some games they list do not have a confirmed retail price yet, so they make it high and will lower when the game comes out. (or when the price is confirmed)

The new price being lower than their used price has been going on for years. Usually, they are trying to blow through a set quanity. They don't drop the used price because in a day/week the new price will be raised again, to be greater than the used price.

I own a store and there are times that EB is the best wholesaler out there.

I would imagine they can't adjust prices on used stock as quickly as manufacturer's lower prices on new stock.

That was more convoluted than reading about a mob bookie explaning his job.

Owning a game store isn't for me.

These arent just odd things I found browsing through the normal games lists.

Its under the "Hot Deals" section and they actually have both of those games marked down for real, while the used price stays the same as before.

I just find it really wierd that it happens so often with games that go on sale like that.

Edit: Buy a DS and get Mario 64 free. Buy a GBA SP and get Zelda LTTP for 90 (not much of a deal, but eh). NES Metroid, Castlevania, Zelda II are all 9.99 now

They do it because they hate you. /saracasm

My guess is that the price recently dropped on the stuff and they haven't gotten around to adjusting the old pricing for the used copy. It happens.

EB games is like a well of stupidity that never runs dry. It really must take quite a bit of effort to be so ridiculous on such a consistent basis.

2 reasons:

1.) that price is the sale price

2.) if its a permanent price drop then the used price will go down in a few days. 98% of the time at EB the new price is changed than a day later the used one drops.
