The pictures come out all black, my flash isnt working for some reason, and the display wont pop up at all.. ive changed the settings and batteries and nothing works.. its kinda old, about 2 years, so i assume its reached the end of its life. Are there any reasonably cheap digital cameras out there that dont suck?

For a 3.3 Mega-pixel camera, these are a great option. The DSC-F505v models are probably the most cost effective models you can buy. You can regularly find them on eBay for about $150-$200.

They're an older model, released in 2000, but at the time they were $1000 new. I still have mine and it still gets awesome shots.

The only downside to them is their slightly large size...

My cousin has this one. (I Have a T1).

It's thin and all. but not any greater than, or really any improvement over the T1 and I feel isn't worth the cash.

Plus the charging bay, and input attachments (DC, USB, TV outs) are this stupid little dongle thing that you have to put on it everytime you need to charge the bastard and looks ridicuous. Basically stupid looking, yet functional attachments, to compensate for the unit's slim profile.

I'm waiting until something better from the next generation comes along, and Am currently *very* happy with my DSC-T1.

If you have a little bit more money, I just bought the Canon Powershot S2. It's a 5 MP camera with a 12X optical zoom. Amazing camera. I'm really happy I picked this one up.

I'd stick with canon or nikon, they tried and true cameras. I don't care to much for other brands at all. Personally I'd go with canon, you can get a really nice small cam for 3-400 bucks.

Frame, what's your price range? Keep checking in your Best Buy and Circuit City ads. They usually have some good rebates and great cameras for slightly less than $200.

Check out this site:

It's got some good camera reviews and comparisons, and is updated regularly.
