my thoughts on the next gen threads

Since the E3 and the hype generated by the next gen supports, we have seen here quite a lot of threads trying to compare the systems by their processor performances, by their graphics perfomances, etc..
It turned into a technological war where the one who can pack the more in the support's case will win.

I'm deeply sad to see this kind of dick measurement like threads on this board.

I can understand this excitement since I was like this a long time ago. I sold my first neo in 1995 to get the PSX because I thought that 32 bit and a Cd plyaer would crush my AES. I bought the PSX and played it for a while.
At the end of the 90's a friend of mine made me discover the emulator scene and he got me Neo rage plus some roms. I played them it was a blast for me. After that my PSX felt somehow boring. 6 month later I registered to Ibazar (a french website like Ebay) and won an auction for an AES plus SS1 and Soccer Brawl.

What I have learnt from this mistake is that nothing can replace a good scenario, a good atmoshpere, some fine musics (I mean not the quality of the sound but the artistic value of the music), some fine graphics (same as music, the artistic value), a solid gameplay and strong replay value.

If I'm here today, it's because I thought that I have found a place full of people like me but it doesn't seems to be the case anymore.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think this board should avoid threadss on the next gen support. It should be discussed here, but there are some important subjects that were put in the shade or not even discussed (correct me if I'm wrong):

-How does the next gen supports will handle 2D?

-On which support the next SNK releases will be edited?

-Which support will get the more arcade ports?

etc....

So I hope that when the systems will be released these kind of discussions will fade and that will discuss again about Games

Just my 2 cents.

I'm very divided at these questions:

PS3 being a 3D powerhouse (more than ever), turn likely that will continue to impose that restrictions to 2D games, at least in US. They will stick to "pretty games" more than never now, I think.

The Xbox360 used to be the more likely option, but now that the are really aiming to take over the market, I don't think that the will support niche gaming like they used to do in the gen.

The Revolution will feature new style of gaming, so it's unsure how it will handle old games. Even with the old nintendo games avaliable, we don know how they will be played - new controller, GC controller, or other. At least the Rev won the polls at SNKPUSA - but it's SNKPJP that matters. In other hand, if the Nintendo promise of making the Rev appealing for the small developers, it can ending have a good deal of homebrew/doujinshi games. So...

My thought on the next gen threads:

This is the same fanboy bullshit I read on GameFAQs four years ago.

Not much Neo-related to talk about, so people need to find their drama somewhere.

1. I'm pretty sure they can do them, but you won't here any focus on the at all, as it barely matters to the people who will be buying these consoles.

2. Who knows? Theoretically the Playstation 3, even though they will probably support the Xbox 360 just as much as they did the Xbox. I doubt they will bother with the Revolution since Nintendo doesn't even have a controller designed.

3. Again, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 will most likely see the same games. That's the way things are going now. So no real difference.
