Mac users with the hookup?

Finally got my 5300CD working! w00tness.
The investment of an ADB keyboard and mouse was a great idea. (Though, more expensive than I would have hoped.)

Well, I'm told that since the drive is IDE that I can put in any size IDE drive I want.

Now...any mac users that could hook me up with OS7.5-9.0?
This compy won't do OSX.

It's running 7.5, but no disks for a VAC find.

I have a way of getting a much better size HDD into this compy so I can use it for better things. I just need some OS disks so I can install and use it once that gets into place.

Anyone?
Bueler?
Copies of such software would not be looked down upon either--at least by me. (Send me a PM if thats the case)

Thanks, I guess.

I still remember the day I installed a 32 MB RAM chip into my old Mac Performa 630CD, bringing the machine to it's maxed out limit of 36 MB! At the time, I thought, "this is so much RAM, I can run anything!!!"

I still have many old Mac disks, games, cables, peripherals, and all sorts of other weird old stuff for the ADB computers. If there's anything you need, odds are, I have it...

I'm pretty sure I have 9.0 somewhere boxed up. I know I had it, didn't recall giving it to anyone and wouldn't have thrown it away. Just a matter a finding where in the hell it's hidden. I'll shoot you a PM when I find it.

Wish me luck, as half my belongings are still boxed up. :annoyed:

If you need isos of the OS... I can dig them up for you, I've got them all in the library at work. I can't remember, the 5300 is a 603e right? I'd say it would run 9 nicely, it's a rock solid classic OS. Skip 8, it sucked... I'd go with the later 7.5s over it... especially with Aarron running ;) Hope you know ResEdit, since it's essential for getting the OS squeaky. God I loved classic macs, I really don't like OS X at all. I'm a linux guy, and OS X disappointed me... my friends think I'm nuts, but I'd take Ubuntu over OS X.

I'm really not shure of the processor type. I'm still green when it comes to Macs, so it's got whatever manufacture spects say it has. (I hope) The previous owner (The town arts center! Haha!) used it for mostly text documents.

If you could land me the *.isos for 9, I'd appreciate it. Just let me know if/how you want compensation for them.

Also, since this thing is IDE, would I be able to, say, go to Wal-Mart and pick up a cheap CD-R/RW/DVD drive and replace the apple drive? Does OS9 support cd burning?

Its got a 100mhz 603e CPU. Good enough to run OS 9. I strongly recommend that you max out the RAM if you plan on installing it. Turning on Virtual Memory in the Memory control panel wouldn't hurt either. This Mac has only 1 IDE connector, for the HD. Technically, you could connect something other than an HD to the IDE port, but you would have to use a SCSI HD. Yes, OS 9 does support CD burning, but you would have to make sure that the burner comes with OS 9 compatible software (or aquire a copy of Toast for OS 9).

I just got a laptop, and put Ubuntu on it. I'm in love with it, the best choice for a laptop evar. :buttrock:

But what you said is and heresy.

On topic, get the 9.2. It's much better than the 8 that I used in my old performa. You may able to get it easily in p2p.
