"Riddle me this, Riddle me that... Who's afraid of the BIG, BLACK, BAT?!!!"

Been hearing nothing but Rave Reviews about this new Batman installment. With an awesome cast such as this one, i can't see why not.

Anyone watching it opening night/day? I'm planning to see the 12:01 AM showing tonight, much like the Episode III premiere. Could this one dethrone the mighty original, with Michael Keaton?

A: it's not really the original

and

B: I hope so, because the Keaton movies are ridiculously overrated, imo. A couple of "almosts". Although I got to admit I'm kind of in the mood to watch them again...

I'll go see it later this week, even if I have to sit through 2 hours of Katie Holmes.

The new Batmobile makes me puke all over myself too.

I'll download it, defintely won't pay to see after the last 2. Maybe after seeing it. Almost downloaded the Russian dub going around.

the new Batmobile is fucking awesome, and if you can't see that, you're gay. :make_fac:

You got that twisted. That's the ugliest thing I've ever seen. There are a lot better choices than that.

Yeah, this movie's a prequel of sorts, so of course the Batmobile is going to look different. Read Batman: Year One and you'll understand. Well, sorta. Batman doesn't even have the Batmobile in Year One... Nevermind. :(

As for going to see it, do you really have to fucking ask? Christian Bale as The Dark Knight? Gary Oldman as Lieutenant James Gordon? Be still my thudding heart.

This has nothing to do with any of the other movies (thank Buddha). You shouldn't base your decision to see it on the last ones any more than you should have based your decision to see the Keaton ones on the Adam West one.

As for the new Batmobile, supposedly it's more functional and gets put to good use in the movie. In still pictures, it looks like maybe a bad choice, but I wasn't crazy about the last couple cars, so I'm optimistic.

I had to call up Anna, my girlfriend, and tell her that I've been waiting for this film all my life as a dedicated Batfan, and that once Christian Bale starts kicking ass in that black rubber suit, I can't be held accountable for what I run up and do to the movie screen. She's just going to have to accept it and punish me accordingly.

But, even if I am able to control myself, I'll let her punish me anyway. ;)

I'm going in...

*checks watch*

...2 hours.

I don't trust Ebert or Rotten Tomatoes anymore (four stars doesn't mean anything anymore, and Hulk, which I consider to be the best super-hero movie by far yet made, has a 60% on RT, barely passing...), but the good reviews have got me tentatively excited.

EDIT: And cause we're trading favorites, Batman Returns blows 'em all away. I've heard some strong arguments about why it's the worst, but I just plug my fingers in my ears because I like it so much.

I like the Adam West one, and I loved both Batman and Batman Returns. Batman Forever and Batman and Robin just didn't do anything for me. And from what I have seen this won't either. I am mildly interested in Ra's Al Ghul though.

He was great in the comics...we'll see if they can pull him off in a movie.

From what I've read, I like this version of Batman's origin a lot better than the Tim Burton one. I also like the Year One version of Gordon, rather than the bumbling idiot old man version of the last 4 movies.

I agree with you about the Adam West movie...actually I prefer it to the Keaton ones. If you're going to be dumb, might as well go all the way ("some days you just can't get rid of a bomb."), rather than have a halfway decent movie and then ruin it at the end with giant penguins with missles strapped on their backs. I just used the West movie as an example of how two series using the same characters can be completely different. Hopefully, there is as big a difference between this new one and the others.

I just watched Returns on ABC Family and I couldn't believe how horrible the latter part of the movie is. It just didn't age well. I remember when I was scared of the movie because The Peguin looks so horrible.

Batman Returns was good. It was like Superman II in a sense, where a couple of things ruined an otherwise great movie (cellophane S shield?).

The first Batman was really great, the Tim Burton one. Tim Burton's style just fits Batman so well, it's hard to say it's bad. It's arguably the best rendition of Gotham City evar, even compared to the few Batman comic books I've read. The last two don't even count as far as I'm concerned, complete and total garbade.

I liked when they hacked the Batmobile and had the Penguin foaming purple ooze all over his mouth.

I guess i'm one of the selective few that really enjoyed the film when i was young. I really like Burton's style, i guess. Much better than Forever and Batman & Robin.

The more I see of this movie, the more stoked I get.
I hope it's as amazing as billed. All the ingredients are there.
Christian Bale should rock, the supporting cast is equally badass, and the directing should be solid, I LOVED Memento. Might be the best movie of the summer.

I have to admit Burton's Gotham City was pretty cool, except for the last 20 minutes where everything suddenly became 'Mr. Rogers Neighborhood"-level fake. WTF? When the Batplane crashes on that conveniently completely empty model street, it made the 1970s Godzilla movies look like real life. When I saw it the first time, I figured they must have run out of money at that point in filming.

The movie also had a good Bat-suit, a good car, and Jack was very good. The Alfred guy was pretty good, too. But I hated everything else, including the overreliance on Prince music every time you turn around. I also thought the Knox character did his best to ruin the movie every scene he was in.

"But a kiss can be even deadlier." I loved those lines and Michelle Pfeiffer just made a superb Catwoman, even though she was a tad crazy.

I just got back from the midnight show. It was about 2 1/2 hours of pure bliss. Everything was so amazing that I dont know where to start. Go See NOWWWW.

The laughs, the tarining scenes, the fighting...everything...

No spoilers!!!!!!!The end even has a great reference at the end which is cool as hell.

The movie is dark...very dark. It just has a great feel to the movie. I didnt want it to end.

I hope sequels never come out. I just dont think it will ever be topped, and I sure dont want it to get all hokey like the last few have.

Its a very adult, very very good Batman that I have been wanting all along.

Better than Burtons.

I just got back and it was fantastic, the batmobile kicks so much ass you have no idea. I thought it would be gay from the still shots I saw but you will be pleased with it I assure you.
