The draft is exactly 2 weeks away from tonight.

Who do you guys think the Bucks are taking number one? Andrew Bogut the sweet passing/shooting big man from Utah or Marvin Williams the sensational freshman from UNC?

Also, if there are any Pitt watchers here, can I get your thoughts on Chris Taft? He's got great NBA size at 6'9" 1/2 and 260 pounds but his desire is in question and has caused his stock to drop... I like him at 9 going to the talent-laden Warriors...

I think Mil takes Williams at 1 I think Taft goes late fIrst round. I have never been a fan of his.

I am interested in the Paul Pierce to Portland rumor for the draft pic. Anyone an ESPN insider who can read the article. IF so can you post it here. I would to see the Celts trade Pierce and package him with god awful Mark Blount.

Ricky Davis = Paul Pierce with energy

IF we get rid of PP I pray we keep Walker.

Paul is the best Celtic... why would you want to be rid of him? He's the only bonafide STAR on your team. Don't give me that "Walker is a star too" crap. Walker is good, but not great. Pierce is great.

Take PP off your team and it will crumble so bad it's not even funny.

Pierce is a big baby, he showed his selfishness in the Indiana series. There is a reason why Danny Ainge is shopping him around. Walker + Pierce will never get it done, might as well trade PP away while he has some value. Look at Walker after he is traded, no one wants him and his value plummeted.

In case you didn't notice, the Celtics blew out Indiana 2 times when the younger players were in. Ainge had some excellent drafts the past few years (maybe they should have traded PP and kept Joe Johnson, look how well he is doing in Phoenix).

This draft will be TERRIBLE, players look worse than last years draft.

if the bucks decide to keep Redd, they should trade that pick.

Well I may be biased cause I am here in Australia but, I feel Bogut is the best choice. People keep being critical of him saying that like most foreign players he is to soft etc. But like most foreign players his basketball fundamentals are greater than the majority of those in the US in his age bracket. Athleticism is highly over rated, as evidenced in the olympics teams that were far less athletic than the US were able to beat them due to sound fundamentals and the concept of team work. (Although of course, the US did send a 3rd tier team)

Also, he played in fekkin Utah which has not exactly been known for having its teams play an athletic style of basketball. People seem to think that athleticism alone can make a player a star....and they are right to a certain extent but due to the lack of fundamentals in the NBA today, players can be effective via other means. (Dirk Nowitski etc....)

I'd say that after this up coming season we will have a better chance to see who was the better choice overall. Altough, I dont expect Williams to reach his full potential for a few years yet. I guess the pick will all come down to what the team feels it needs right now from a player, impact now or future potential.

Fair enough... but just be careful what you wish for

Last Blade summed it up perfectly

PP is a selfish player who only runs 1/2 court ball we do better when he is on the bench. He has some good games once in a while but that it it. Plus I dont consider him a star. He is a nice side piece not a main guy Also a large group of us consider Walker to be better than Pierce,he is a natural leader he motivates the team. WHile he is not great either I would much rather have him.

PP is the best player the celts have, however I don't think they'll ever be better than a 2nd round playoff team without him. he and walker slows the game down too much for them, they're both half court players, and PP demands the ball way too much and the celts have a young core that can run, they need to trade pierce for a better piece (or a couple of pieces), i'd keep walker just because he's a floor leader and emotional leader for the celts, he plays hard even if he's not the best PF out there.

PP is one of those players who needs to be on the right team to fit in, he's a lot like jamison, arenas and hughes were before they made it to the wizards, they were all good players but were on the wrong teams and lost a lot.

No way Chris Paul goes 2nd to the Hawks. They'll take Marvin Williams.

LMAO at Neo. Taft undrafted? Worst case scenario is late 1st round. He's a 1st round lock.

Everyone has gone crazy. The only two things that are guaranteed in this draft is Bogut to the Bucks at 1 and Williams to the Hawks at 2. After that it's a crapshoot.

And I agree with DK about the lack of talent in this year's draft. Bogut will win ROY, but he'll be ugly to watch and will average about 15 points and 10 boards for the bulk of his career. Williams will turn into the best player of the lot. Should be a big scorer in a few years. At least the point guards are solid. I wanna see Jarett Jack fall to the Nuggets so they can use four solid guards in the rotation.

With Andrew Bogut expected to go No. 1 to Milwaukee and Marvin Williams No. 2 to Atlanta, this year's NBA Draft appeared to hinge on what the Portland Trail Blazers decided to do with the No. 3 pick. The Blazers didn't want to draft either of the top-rated point guards, Deron Williams or Chris Paul (Portland is already committed to rookie Sebastian Telfair at that position), so they traded the selection to Utah for the Nos. 6 and 27 picks as well as a future first-rounder that originally belonged to Detroit. That deal should clear the way for Utah to take Deron Williams at No. 3, New Orleans to grab Paul at No. 4 and Charlotte to settle on Ray Felton at No. 5 in a run of point guards.

With Portland expected to take athletic high school swingman Gerald Green or prep shooting guard Martell Webster at No. 6, teams were wondering what move Toronto might make at No. 7 (see below). The Raptors were thought to be considering high schooler Green, Arizona big man Channing Frye and New Mexico small forward Danny Granger. Any one of those choices would create ripples throughout the rest of the first round.

Lots of point guards in this draft.

edit: SI.com also claims that the Warriors are set on Warrick at 9. Seems a little high, IMO, for a guy with his talent level.

Yep. Green at 18 = nice. Granger to the Pacers at 17 is a heist, too.

They got a steal. Best? Dunno.

Monta Ellis at 40 and Chris Taft at 42 to the Warriors combined is hard to beat. Taft was projected lottery for much of May, and Ellis was a guy predicted to be taken in the early 20's.

When someone falls from the lottery to the second round in a month, it's probably because he wasn't nearly as good as they originally thought.

But you never know...
