What a piece of shit show.

Recycled animations, very cheap animation, bad writing, no plot, humor that isnt funny (I laughed at the show, but for the wrong reasons).

Seriously. Fucking shit.

This isn't a fair comparison.

Black Heaven is notorious for being a piece of shit.

Rock 'n Roll saves the universe! :buttrock:

No. It says Hard Rock Saves the World on the cover.

In the show itself it says HARD ROCK SAVE THE SPACE! I want that printed on a shirt.

(this was bought to be sold to somebody by my room mate from best buy and we ended up watching this piece of shit all day yesterday)

EDIT: Evangelion was nothing but a show about giant robots that got boring really really fast. There is no substance to the show.

Go watch Kenshin or well....Naruto. :p

Actually I really like reading stuff about people who hate anime, especially on stuff that I like. And I'm not talking about people who just don't like it, but rather go out of their way to point out how much they hate it or think it sucks. Not for any bad reasons or anything at all, I just find it kind of interesting since it's something so subjective and I like to see why people hate something I enjoy so much.

I'd love to hear you go off on Naruto considering your sig. :)

I'm guessing you hate it so much since you didn't like it and you have to put up with tons of people loving it and having avitars & sigs about it every where you go, and it probably sounds like you have some crazy anime people around you who don't know not to talk about anime around people who don't like anime. :p

What is Naruto about anyway? I haven't watched it, I dont know what station it's on or whatever, but apparently it's pretty popular.

I just don't watch recent anime because 99% of it is garbage like Pokemon, YuGioh, Full Metal Alchemist, etc. The only recent thing I watched a couple of times and sorta got into, but I'm not real familiar with is Avatar, because I like the backstory and it seems like a good premise for a show.

Personally, I don't like most anime that is a series anyway, save for DBZ/GT, Evangelion (though it ended like ass) and a handful of others.

I remember back before Anime blew up, like late 80s, early 90s I used to rent 'japanese animations' from the local MovieLand Video. They didn't have any of the gay stuff, they had the old (i.e. BETTER) BubbleGum Crisis episodes, Tank Police, GunBuster and mostly movies like Lensman, Vampire Hunter D, AKIRA, Wind Named Amnesia, Fist of the North Star (not the series) etc.

That was anime. That's the good stuff.

That's the kind of anime I like, a feature length movie. I can't stand series, and now it's just getting ridiculous. Hell even that crapass show Teen Titans has that idiotic anime flair to it. And that's not the worst thing about Teen Titans. The worst thing is that it makes Robin out to be some super-strong, flying ultra-high jumping invincible super-hero when he's just a wanna-be Batman with less experience.

God damn I hate that show. Anyway, what about this Naruto makes it great?

Naruto is a fighting anime a lot like DBZ but with a lot more characters and way more going on story wise.

It also has the same problem as DBZ's anime did compared to the manga, they draw out the anime episodes way too much compared to the manga and re-use animations too much.

On the upside, when they do get down to the action it's actually really very well done in the anime and is worth watching if you enjoy action and the manga.

Still if you liked DBZ, you'll probably like Naruto. It's not in stores really, except for the early manga novels.

You can get to downloading at places like www.narutofan.com

I hate Naruto, mostly because its like DBZ, everyone loves it and dresses up and ruins comic conventions that arent anime based. (as well as everyday life when they dont stop talking about the shit or just being stupid about it)

And kenshin wasnt to great either. I watched alot of it on CN and wasnt impressed.

One thing that bothers me about japanese cartoons is the complete lack of good animation for the most part. Mouths moving and things happening while their faces dont show any expression or move is lazy and cheap, so everyone does it.

Fuck yeah, classic anime rocks. Anime had a way darker image back then...much gore and violence in it (take a look at the guyver and angel cop).

Too bad berserk was about the last anime that stayed true to this.

Naruto is about eccentric Ninjas. And that's why I love it. I just find it, and still find it hilarious that they are Ninjas, but only one character hides his face.

You'd come out better watching the movies. As will anime unless the episode is deemed important the animation is extremely poor, but compared to only manga sometimes its great.

But the movies just look great. Especially the ones based on Shonen Jump Manga, it's like night and day sometimes.

Totally man, I had forgotten about Guyver. I remember one time when I worked at a flea market in Denver, my friend and I would go garage sale hunting during the week, and we cleared out a sale that had inherited hundreds of movies from an out of business rental store. We had all the Guyver Tapes (even the first movie as awesome as it was) Harmageddon, Genocyber and all kinds of awesome stuff.

Good times. Now anime is all worthless kids-stuff.

I miss the really bad humor that the older animes had. The terrible puns and all that.

Heh, I love it because it's like DBZ. I just like action anime, simple fun stuff to relax to, it's all subjective though.

But as much as I love Naruto, yeah people are annoying. See the Otaku thread. I know people like that who won't shut up about it and it's turned a lot of my friends off of it because other people keep spouting off about the series constantly and spoil stuff for my friends who were just starting to get into it.

I think of it more of the fault of the annoying folk who don't know how to act appropriately than the fault of the anime being addicting though.

I've only watched parts of the Naruto anime, I mostly read the manga, and having done that yeah they skimp out a lot on the generic stuff like you mentioned but they do go all out on the action scenes which is where I'm more interested in the actual anime instead of the manga.

Kenshin I remember being really good too, but for the anime it's probably about the same I guess in the slower non action parts as DBZ or Naruto. The Kenshin OVA (the first one, that was actually good) had simply amazing animation throughout, even in the non action bits. It had a very different style of art than the anime though.

And American animation is better? :eek_2: Power Puff Girls? Samurai Jack? Dexter's Laboratory? Masters of the Universe? Justice Leageue? Oh yes, all fine examples of excellent animation. :loco:

Nesgawa, you obviously hate Anime. So why did you bother watching it in the first place? You knew you weren't going to like it, yet you wasted your time and watched it anyway. That makes no sense to me.

I guess you watched it so you'd have something to bitch about on the boards.

All I'm saying is, you know you don't like it, you have a severe dislike of the Anime crowd, so why even bother in the first place?

Edit- the last really well animated American show I can remember is Batman: The Animated series or Garoyles. I can't remember which one went off the air first.

Japanese Animation is incredibly played out and lame...

But then again the British shouldn't be allowed to make cartoons either because then you end up with things like Dangermouse and Bob & Margeret.

woah, slerch, samurai jack was a pretty sweet show. The animation seems weird but it was unique, especially with its wide and narrow screens at certain scenes. The plot was was well written (premise boring, episodes actually very cool), too and the episodes were long and high quality; they did end up airing past 9pm for a reason.

Stylized and well written? I'll give you the stylized... well written... not always. I wasn't pissing on the show per se, only pointing out that American animation is no better than Japanese.

My point was that Nesagwa is complaining about Japanese animation and this is how it plays out:

Actually watch how "animated" things are... or rather, aren't, in things like Samurai Jack. It's called "television animation" for a reason. It's cheap and they cut corners, it's a fact of life. Doesn't mean they can't make a good show.

All the 'toons I commented on are about as animated, as in actual movement, as Japanese shows are. Of course, there are examples of high quality and low quality on both sides.

And if Nesagwa is expecting Disney's old (like Pocahontas and back) animated feature quality animation in a TV series like Kenshin, he's barking up the wrong tree. He needs to stick with OVAs (quality OVAs, unlike Black Heaven) and theatrical movies, and even those have their quality and lack of quality releases.
