Taken from the KOF Forum and expanded, what are your favorite opening movies of any fighting game, regardless of what company or developer made them? The movies that make you get fired up to press start or the ones that captivate you by the artwork or you just like'em because they look cool and it has grabbed your attention.

SFA2--Aside from being one of my fav SFs, the guitar riffs sound good to me and I dig that column of characters and Dan's kick through concrete or stone or whatever the hell it is.

SF3:2I--"You Can't Escape".....From Alex's bg in SF3 to the rooftop, I definitely enjoy the anticipation of seeing Hugo and Alex sizing each other up while showing other sprites in action.

SF3:3S--Of course you have the hand-drawn folks in various colors mixed w/ the hip-hop and the erractic display of screens and Gill's pic make the movie very nice to watch.

KOF '96-- Pretty damn good w/ the ending being the logo flying over red clouds.

KOF '97--A lot of great artwork and Shingo's flashes being my top pick of this particular movie.

MKII--The stills are nostalgic at this time and the music short but powerful. Shao Kahn's mountain made me feel like I was starstrucked when it first came out.

FF3--Geese planting his feet on his desk was enough to get me to play.

SS--Trees never got it so badly.

SS2--Lots of bright colors and the music was excellent.

Tekken 3--The one w/ all the characters, not just Jin.

Tekken 4--The game was meh, but Kazuya taking donw all those guards was alright.

VF2 and VF3--Great Music, period.

X-Men:COTA--I probably like this one more than any of the other Marvel fighters due to the music and the scene w/ all the fighters coming out from the sides one by one.

Martial Champions--Don't remember much about it but it's a little-known in FL/GA that I enjoyed watching as much as I did playing.

That's mine, alright. What about you?

SF3 Third Strike, hand down winner. Kick ass intro. Great music, great art, just overall presentation is well done.

Fatal Fury 3: also, very kick ass. THE LONE WOLVES ARE BACK!

KOF98: Don't know why, it just is. ;)

MOTW: Both intros are awesome....

SSF2: The animation on Ryu was mind blowing, at the time. I don't care for SSF2T's hacked version of it, however.

These are the GREAT ones.... I will say that Capcom makes some great games, but the intros just aren't anything to scream about most the time.

FF Wild Ambition's intro was really great.

Only for the PSX, too. The Hyper version doesn't have the intro, just in case anyone was wondering.

3D: Soul Blade (best CG at the time, followed by Tekken 2)

2D: FF3 Road to the Final Victoly (followed by MotW, but it's great to see only for the first few times. then it becomes normal)

Soul Blade, best by a very very long way (mostly thanks to the cheesy tune)

I also kinda like the Bloody Roar: Primal Fury intro - the anime-style one for the GameCube, not the crappy CGI one on the Xbox.

I vaguely remember seeing that KoF Dream Match '99 on the DC had an anime intro, but it was so long ago I can't remember :(

Can anyone confirm?

Yes, I confirm.
Basically a Kyo/Iori fight, which ended in them both throwing their projectiles at each other at the same time, interspersed with brief animations introducing all the characters and teams.

Not bad, but a bit too long for my liking.

Virtua Fighter 2
KOF "Dream Match" (Dreamcast)
Garou: MOTW
Street Fighter Zero III

...that's all that comes to mind. For "Roving Brawlers" though IKARI III (Arcade) with it's drum beats and talking of the two men born to fight had to kick ass once again... and BOOM > THE TITLE SCREEN pops up and gets cut in half, and the next thing you know you're dropped out of a UH-1 BELL Helo and whipping soldiers asses bare handed in a low water creekbed. Now that was the shit!

A few people have already mentioned this, but Soul Edge, hands down.

The Tekken 5 intro does a really great job of integrating the music and video. The song is really neat too, it starts off like a ballad and builds up to a heavy metal crescendo.

Yeah, it was done by Sunrise Studios, which also did the intros for the Playstation Real Bout: Dominated Mind, and Last Blade.

Of the three, the KOF one was probably the most interesting.

MOTW - both are great but the Geese and Terry one is just surreal.
King of Fighters '00 - the peak of KOF presentation and artwork IMO.
SSF2 - classic.
