Don't get me wrong, that would be fabulous if it did happen.

But now that MS is getting even more aggressive with the JP launch and supporting that market, I would say that are even less likely to be region free.

In the recent issue of Play magazine that had an interview with the head of MS games over in Japan (can't remember his name) and he said they are going to be a lot more aggressive with the Japanese market and trying to cater to their gaming needs.

Now, if that means they are just going to have more dating sims :kekeke: I don't know.

I wouldn't expect a change, there'll be a region lockout.

i think the situation will be the same where the xbox 360 will have no region lockout but it the publishers will have the option to put it into the games. I doubt you'd find any publisher that won't put it in though.

I'd take you up on that offer but I'll be in Japan a month after the 360 launches here :mr_t:

Considering it didn't happen this time around, I highly doubt it.

I also know many people who spend more time playing their X-Box than their PS2...I prefer the X-Box over it myself. I may skip the PS3 and stick with the XBox 360 and the Revolution.

That's what I'm gonna do. The PS3 is easily last on my list as far as the new consoles are concerned.

Doesn't change the fact that ~60,000,000 people didn't even bother with a Xbox. Microsoft has a long road ahead of them simple as that.

I think it would potentially be a different story if people didn't buy into the Sony hype machine.

Honestly, while there have been some very good titles on the PS2, how many of the games on the system were just some rehash of an older title?

I bet you that if the general public was aware of the ability to play emulators and ROMS on the X-Box, the X-Box sales would have sky rocketed.

Sure, but at the same time, you can link the Xbox's "high" sales to it being a ROM-box and also being so easy and cheap to hack/mod.

And this gives the original system and software no merit at all.

The whole industry.

Ok then, besides sony and their competitors, who cares?

I just don't know why people here always talk about sales numbers like it means something to the average gamer or collector.

Sales don't mean quality.

Sales mean a lot.

Only to competitors? You have a lot to learn.

Game developers, investors, everyone cares about sales.

What do you see as more profitable? Releasing a game on the best selling console, or on the worst selling console? Why do you believe Resient Evil 4 will get a PlayStation2 release?

Welcome to Neo-Geo.com, SonicBoom, here we get to talk not only about "average gamer/collector things", we also talk about sales numbers, technical specs and many other different things. If you happen to feel uncomfortable with this, simply don't post in this kind of threads.

I seriously doubt the 360 will. Unless Sony comes forth with an announcement of the PS3 being region-free for games (which I'd like to believe is a strong possibility, with the PSP being such) I'd pretty much guarantee all next-gen systems working exactly as they have before, region-locked.
