Hey, I was talking to someone on another board and they said that 3rd Strike on the Dreamcast is not arcade perfect. When I say arcade perfect I mean like all the character frames, graphics and sound quality are the same. I also know you can't have INSERT COIN on the screen, but what are the differences. I know it's not like Street Fighter 2 on the SNES and on the Arcade, I can see how that's not arcade perfect...obviously. But 3rd Strike on the dreamcast? I think its perfect. I have my dreamcast hooked up to an arcade monitor via RGB like the CPS3 version. Looks awesome like it does in the arcade! So, someone else see any differences that my eyes can't?

Off the top of my head, when you tick Hyper Bomb with Alex, it doesn't work off of a cShort on the DC because the grab range is 3 pixels larger than on the CPS3 original.

If you really want in in-depth analysis, I'd head over to www.shoryuken.com, and then just do a search over there.

They've probably beaten this one to death by now.

The DC version has jaggy sprites also. :annoyed:

The question is, are you comparing a Standard TV setup with composite or svideo to the arcade version which is using RGB? I can't see a difference visually, between the DC and CPS3 versions.

I don't want to upset you, but no console ports of capcom fighters have been arcade perfect. MvC2, SFA1,2,3, Xmen vs. SF, SFex..... All of them have something changed from their arcade counterpart to make them unplayable in tournaments. (Unless it's a console tournament, which I find kind of hard to swallow.)

As mentioned the PS2 and Xbox versions of SF 3rd strike are good, but there is a Urien combo that acts differently from the CPS3 version.

Please post this in unrelated next time.

...also I've heard mention that the timing for Parries is slightly delayed on the D'Cast, even if you change the Parry Setting as low as possible

3rd Strike: Arcade vs Dreamcast

- Parry timing is different..
- Slight input lag on Dreamcast.
- Resized sprites.
- Changed hitboxes.
- Changed frame properties (Chun-Li's c.MK actually has -1 frame advantage on hit on DC).
- No unblockables (Urien suddenly a lot lower on the tier list).
- Denjin charges slower even with rotation (Dreamcast).

And a good deal of other things, like the Alex Hyper Bomb tick crap. All in all, the Dreamcast version is garbage. Get the XBox one instead. The PS2 one still has some errors (Urien's Aegis hits 6 times instead of 5, for example) and looks like ass (jaggies all over, particularly in the text).

Graphically the arcade one is superior then the Dreamcast but this was RGB compared S-Vid.

I have compared the PS2 version through component to the arcade version and arcade is still sharper and has better color also.
