Ok, here's the deal... I'm at work right now, so I can only get ideas, cant test em right now.

My setup.

Athlon XP 2500+

MSI K7-N2 Delta-L mobo

512mb Crucial DDR3200 ram

ATi AIW 9800 Pro (128mb)

120GB Seagate HD 7200RPM

Windows XP Pro SP2

Lite-On 4x +/- DVDR/RW

Antec Lanboy 350 case

500w power supply

I was pulling my computer out from its usual home to get all the dust out of it, was running at 40c instead of the normal 32-33c. Got it out, took it all apart, all PCI/AGP cards, didn't mess with the wires going from the mobo to the case for power/reset, and the LED's.

Got everything cleaned up, put it back up the exact same way I had it. Went to test the power and didnt have any problems. So I put it back into its normal spot, tried to power it up and nothing happened. Soooo, I pulled it all back out again, double checked every connection possible. Tried to power it up again, no joy. I grabbed my old Antec 350w power supply that came with it, tried powering it up, it worked! So, I figured I'd try to swap them out and see what would happen, by the time I got everything swapped back out and it was time to power it up again, no joy.

So I went over to my old POS Athlon 750, ripped the PS out of it. Only reason for this was that it had a test switch on the PS. Mostly to make sure it was working. I pulled the main power connections from the Antec PS that was in my good computer, connected the basic power connectors, hooked up the ones on my test PS, his the test switch, everything powered up just fine.

Does anyone have suggestions? The only thing I can think of right now is that a power/reset/led wire is loose or not on there right. If anyone has another idea, please fill me in! I'm updating soon to an Athlon 64, but its gonna be another week or two, and I can't survive that long. Thanks!

Very strange, the same thing is happening to me. I cleaned my PC and when I put it back together, the damn thing would only power up for about 1 second. I haven't tried any other power supplies yet but any help would or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey, just a quick thought. I did this with mine and i was able to turn it on, given, it didnt turn on again after I shut it off. but, try pulling the power wires from the mobo, then exchange those with the reset wires. so the reset button turns the computer on. it's worth a shot. I'm gonna get a spare couple of wires and see if i cant hotwire it.. hehehe

i've been through 3 power supplies. all three work with my athlon 750, but i get the same shit on my athlon XP 2500+
