Yeah, that sucks.

Read about it awhile back at Snopes.

Yeah, I figured it was probably one of those things that a lot of people have heard about.

someone died so I'd hate to laugh at the situation but it's kind of funny.

My fencing coach used to say this about tomfoolery with the foils and epees without putting on the mask:

"It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye."

Say what you will about seatbelts, but Volvo created the 3-point seatbelt precisely because the 2-point seatbelts wouldn't keep people strapped into the seats and people would just snap the belts and die when bodies fly from the vehicles. I've heard quite a few stories from friends about members in their family that died because they didn't put on a seatbelt.

Knee-jerk reactions to seatbelt laws as 'government waste blah blah blah' is not looking at the real benefits of fostering citizens' seatbelt-wearing habits. Wearing a seatbelt doesn't turn you into a slave of the government, nor is it an example of The Man trying to keep you down.

Derek, who was thrown from the vehicle, was not wearing a seat belt, Lefler said. He said Havermann and Uphoff were wearing seat belts at the time.

Yeah, that government, always trying to mislead you into wearing your seatbelt. This is a good reason to believe that even with modern medical advancements, sometimes Darwinian ideas can be applied to humans.

That dude went to the same university as me. I hate the Daily Nebraskan with a passion and I hope that more stuff like this happens to its "writers" on a frequent basis.

And the situation is coincidental, not ironic.

Haha, that's something my friend would say too.

He's an English major and a real stickler about the colloquial usage of the English language.

And yet, somehow I don't give a shit. Imagine that.
I'm gonna give you a knife-proof shirt, and somehow stab you through it.

Suck on that irony, biotch.

Cool it, squareh4t3r. You should work out your aggression through a different medium, like music. I bet you've never picked up a musical instrument in your life.

I don't' care what Snoopes says, the second article is false. They address the boy as "smart", but anyone with basic knowledge of physics, or just common sense can understand deceleration forces and what that does to people in a car during an accident. Yes lone rebel, keep fighting the good fight, you do it for us, you do it so we have something to chuckle at and go... "that sucks", while going about our daily lives soon to forget you, but subconsciously checking that belt one extra time before we head on our way for the next few mornings. Sleep well.

As far as I'm concerned he's a dumb fuck for not wearing a seatbelt. I was in a crash on the second of January this year and the only thing that saved my head becoming one with the tree was the seatbelt.

Buckle up kids :buttrock:

Fucking dumbass. I don't get what's so oppressive about wearing a seatbelt. It's just common sense.
