I picked up Killzone when it came out last November and, at the time, I had some major issues with the controls. I really liked the overall design and art dircetion of the game but the way the analog sticks were mapped really hampered my enjoyment of the game (I used to having my move/strafe on the left stick and turn/look on the right). I was turing when I wanted to strafe, strafing when I wanted to turn and I couldn't aim for shit with my right thumb (again, I'm used to aiming with my left) all compounding to make the game almost unplayable for me. After a week and a half of trying to get used to Killzone's controlls I found that when I switched to games like Halo 2 and Thirteen I was all out of whack on their controlls. Long story short, I sold off Killzone.
Within the last few weeks I really had a desire to give KZ another try to see if I could actually play it. So I picked up another copy this past Monday and gave it another try. Much to my suprise I fell right into the controlls. They felt like they were second nature. I really don't know what happened in the 6 months since I last played it but now I don't have any problems with the way the sticks are mapped. I never changed the stick layout from my usual in any of the other console FPS' but somehow I've adapted to the Killzone layout.
So, now that I can actually play this game I really enjoy it. Everything except the whole action button thing (something I hope they fix in Killzone 2). I actually like it more that Halo and Halo 2 for the art direction alone. There's just something more enjoyable about taking on a human foe over some alien species.
Meh, I'm rambling now.
