Has anyone owned one of these?

I was talking with danadamkof about a good PDA to get if I wanted keyboard, CF support, and wifi and these came up and they are pretty cheap on ebay and have everything Id really need (adding in a pcmia wifi card (or CF, whichever)).

So are they any good or should I just go with a real PDA.

well I thought I was going to sleep...

anyhow, I was looking at the 770, and this was mentioned: "131MHz MIPS processor" 131 mhz will play MP3s, but I'm not sure about videos. I'd also see how well surfing the net holds up on it today. I'm used to ARM processors myself, and who knows, it may be a Athlon vs Pentium thing where mhz isn't all that matters.

Personally I use a Pocket PC with a StrongARM processor (PXA250) that can do 100, 200 or 300 mhz; 100 mhz will play MP3s, 200 will play videos (but sometimes it gets choppy), 300 will play videos fullspeed. Surfing the internet is tolerable on 200 mhz and slightly faster on 300 mhz. My experience with the internet is limited since I use my pocket pc's usb cable to connect to my computer which connects to the internet, and I don't think the USB bus is fast enough for the internet like that. I can say that on 300 mhz I can do IRC, AIM, and the internet and it's not that bad. Just some things to consider which may not even be relevant.

Anyhow I'd also recommend putting more memory in there. Of course you'd want to use CF for memory and PCMCIA for your wifi card. ALSO! I'd do research on using a PCMCIA Wifi card on it (since I know nothing of using PCMCIA on PDAs); like would you need specialized drivers, etc.

No experience with NEC PPC's. They are uncommon, so that has costs to it.

I have had very good luck with my 1st gen Dell Axim X5 400MHZ. Its a bit slow compared to other 400+MHZ units today but it does the job. The D-Pad is one of the better ones for gaming; but as far as a gaming PPC its still poor.

I am now considering the Dell Axim X30 with dual wireless. I've used it before, and its really speedy.

Asus makes some good PDA's too, and they are fast.

Never owned an iPaq... dont' care to either. Seems they never know what they want, have so many models that choosing one is hard as hell, and have heard not many good things about them lately.

One thing missing on newer PDAs now is a decent D-Pad. Casio E-125 was the best PDA for gaming; but ran pretty slow, even when overclocked.

Come to think of it; finding a PPC that has Xscale at >500MHZ, that is fast, runs WM2003SE, and has good Dpad and good buttons is impossible. I have not seen anything of such. If anyone here has, please post.

So is there anything similiar to the NEC ones? The built in keyboard and stuff kind of saves some time and money and space. The 900's are pretty cheap on ebay too so I wasnt sure.
