Analysts think there will be a console shortage (ahahaha nooo ? realllyyyyyyyy ?). They think the console will be sold at loss too, by 76 bucks.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/06/06/news_6127039.html

the best in that is:
"We're aware that demand for Xbox 360 will be at a fever pitch, and we're working with our manufacturing partners to ensure that gamers in Europe, North America and Japan will have a great Xbox 360 Christmas this year."

so europe will see the console not long after USA and JAPAN

How hard could it be to meet the demand of Japanese X-Box fans?

What?

They're having trouble finding the time and materials to ship out ten consoles?

As sad as it is, I would honestly be suprised if X-box 360 sales were in the top three listings of console sales with regards to the Japanese market.

I really don't see a console shortage happening in either the US of JPN. But if it does, who cares? There's tons of shit to play on current gen consoles, and at the very worst you may have to wait a couple of months to get your 360 with three games available for it.

well, when It comes to Sega.....

It's (was) possibly my fave company but they always demonstrated to be poor businessmen
I remember the initial batch of Dreamcast in Japan was just of 300k units, when demands was 3 times more, since people were so excited about the very first next-gen machine

kinda same thing happened with Satrun
I remember an article on Edge magazine stating lot of japanese got a PSX with Ridge Racer just cause they couldn't find a Sat anywhere.....

I just finished reading that article at gamespot.... and all I can say is...

"Teh hype, it BURNS"

And this is coming from a 99% probable xbox 360 launch buyer.

I thought 'dumping' (selling things for less than they cost to make) is illegal

When I read that yesterday the first thing to came to my mind was, "Only 1,000,000 units?" If they are trying to get such a big start, those sure are some small numbers. Sony isn't given them a whole lot of time either.

According to this site:

If a company exports a product at a price lower than the price it normally charges on its own home market, it is said to be “dumping” the product.

I suppose it wouldn't apply in this case, since the anti-dumping laws applies to exporting and not manufacturing.

Besides, its been pretty standard practice for the maker of the consoles to eat atleast some of the cost of the console to get the price down on it.
