I'd rate them as deserving of consideration at least for one of the top 5 or so bands in existence. Great songwriting, excellent music, topnotch stuff. Looking very forward to XY tomorrow.

Personally, "The Scientist" is my favorite Coldplay song. Very meaningful.

You should have included '0' in your poll.

I gave them a 1 since there is no zero.

Quoted for truth.

Fucking hate this band. For two years, whenever you turned on the radio, Yellow (or any other of their whiny John Mayer-esque singles) would be playing. Count my 1 as a 0.

i think they have talent.

i still think 'the speed of sound' sounds almost exactly like their other 'big' singles...

i dunno...they are original.

Yeah, i thought it was an old song when i heard it.

The bands sounds are original, but they generally soung too similar, preventing me from giving them 4 or 5.

Yeah, that is my one very large caveat with XY- the riff for "Speed of Sound" is recycled from "Clocks." Maybe they would pass it off as sampling their own stuff, but c'mon, that's just lazy.

Still like the band overall, though.

GALLAGHER: 'COLDPLAY MAKE ME WANT TO KILL MYSELF'.

Outspoken OASIS frontman LIAM GALLAGHER credits COLDPLAY with bringing out his suicidal tendencies.

Coldplay, lauded for their sensitive rock ballads, played a secret gig in London for music channel MTV on Tuesday (19APR05), and although Liam's brother NOEL attended the performance, the wild WONDERWALL singer snubbed the night out in the fear CHRIS MARTIN's moody tunes would have left him depressed and desperate.

He quips, "Do you see any razor blade scars? That's what I would have if I'd seen them.".

They're a bunch of annoying whiney cunts. They should top themselves and do us all a favour.

I hold them personally responsible for Keane too. The cunts.

LIAM GALLAGHER SLAMS CHRIS MARTIN'S ANTI-WAR STANCE

LIAM GALLAGHER has called COLDPLAY frontman CHRIS MARTIN a "knobhead student" for expressing strong anti-war views at a fundraising show.

The Oasis singer slammed Martin for his comments at the band's Teenage Cancer Trust show In London on Monday (March 24), where he encouraged the sell-out crowd at the Royal Albert Hall to "sing against war".

Gallagher also labelled Martin's Oscar-winning actress girlfriend Gwyneth Paltrow a "gawky bird".

The verbal assault came after Gallagher appeared as a special guest at Richard Ashcroft's Teenage Cancer Trust show at the same venue on Wednesday (March 26).

He told The Sun : "When Coldplay did this gig they banged on about the war, that's wrong. Chris Martin shouldn't be using this cause to bang on about his own views on the war. If him and his gawky bird want to go banging on about the war they can do it at their own gigs.

"That lot are just a bunch of knobhead students - Chris Martin looks like a geography teacher. What's all that with writing messages about Free Trade on his hand when he's playing. If he wants to write things down I'll give him a pen and a pad of paper. Bunch of students.

"These gigs are about kids who have got cancer, they've got to fight a war every day of their lives. That's what we're all here doing this for."

Other acts playing at the Albert Hall through the week of shows included Supergrass, Doves andMadness.
That doesn't sound too pompous to me. In fact, that's downright compassionate and I respect Mr. Gallagher for having the sense to keep his personal opinions out of something like a fundraiser for teens with cancer.

Chris Martin and his "gawky bird" can shove it right up their asses.

Their music always had a good sound to it. Very nice chord progressions with interesting melodies. They aren't my favorite band of all time, but they have a great skill and I enjoy them quite a bit.

I hate "Cold Play" with a passion, or more to the point Chris Martin and his whiny ass. I feel worse for his little girl, because she looks just like him and almost nothing like Paltrow whom I'm surprised fell for such a Metrosexual waste of humanity. And I thought she couldn't do any worse than Ben Affleck, GAWD was I wrong! ---Just how is his sound unique? I mean unless sounding like a man who's either between some orgasm and whinning through his lyrics is supposed to be ground breaking??? :spock:

And I have to agree with Oasis (whom I've only ever liked their 1994 Album with Champange Super Nova and Wonder Wall on it) about Martin & Paltrow's antics. It's about as shameful as Michael "Ham Sammich" Moore pulling his stunt at the Oscars. There's a time and a place for political commentaries, awards shows and music venues (unless that's the theme of the venue) is not one of them. That freckin Hippie bullshit and it's too bad Cartman wasn't there to but on that CD of Slayer to make Chris Martin and his gawky bird melt like the wicked witch. I'd be a much happier person if Cold Play never put out another song let alone another album. Thus my vote = Shotgun to the face
