Congratulations... there's no feeling like getting a new job with better pay.

And more pay = more money for video games.

$11 an hour? Are you still in school? :conf:

school and some people just don't mix.
thought i'd throw this in there.

he might still be in school....he also might not be.

it really isn't important right now. the man got a job, and he's proud of it.

sorry for the rant, but that post made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

They're ripping you out the ass for treatment, the least they can do is offer valet.

thanks everyone. :D well, where i live at isn't exactly known for anything but tobacco and racing. however it is cheaper to live where im at so a dollar goes farther here.

as to what i will be doing, well in a nutshell i get to greet visitors and patients, and drive their cars at the parking deck and back. also for people that can't drive like if they are paralized or are missing a limb, i have to drive them around abit. easy as hell work and just a way to get my foot in the door. i used to work at an attourney's office and they may want someone running the desk in the future so i can double or triple the pay. they got a special gym i can go to for free, full medical coverage, dental, eye, 401k, and it can cover my family too. and its only 7 mins. away from my house. the hours are between 7 a.m. and 7.p.m. weekends and holidays off. 5wks paid vacation. and the best part is...tons of hot ass chicks not like the ones at the waffle house or any other "redneck" area either.

well to be honest i have been doing odd jobs to make ends meet, like being a manager at resturants, working for h.r. block, but now i feel things are turning around for me.

when my mother's MS started getting worse i had no choice but to stop school and help her. now i can cover that end as well.

u get tips? i wouldnt think so @ $11/hr.

also i heard valet is harder than it sounds. you have to know how to drive pretty much every car ever made and the simplest thing like turning the ignition can be tricky in certain models. i would be scared to do it. i can drive stick but not all sticks are the same and what would happen if i stall out someones car when they right there LOL.

There's valet parking at UNC's hospitals, for people who aren't really in a position to walk half a mile from the nearest parking deck.

Anyway, congrats on the job man, and may it buy you many minty Neo Geo carts.

Yeah alot of hospitals are getting Valets.

It's always good to work at a hosptial because:

1. Great Benefits.
2. Looks Great on a resume.
3. Decent pay.

$11 per hour isn't bad where I live either. I know tons of people that would kill for an $11 per hour job. I used to bust my ass for a multi-million dollar lumber company. $8.35 an hour.

No need to be a dick in this guy's thread. Be happy for him, or gtfo. He's trying to put himself through college while paying for his mom's MS treatments? You come off as real classy, Darklighterx.

As to $11/hr, it's passable depending on what part of the country (much less neighborhood) you live in. It adds up to more than it seems due to all the benefits he's getting, too. I worked $8.50-9.50/hr jobs throughout college (with the exception of tutoring where I could charge $20-40/hr). Those of us not fortunate enough to be Mushiki often start at the low-end of the totem pole. My first job at University? Shelving books, journals, and microfiche in an underground library without a single window. If you can't stand isolation, there's no way you can stand being underground by yourself, sorting microfiche for 4-5 hours straight without seeing a single human being. Oh yeah, and all the cuts you get on your fingers and hands from the sharp plastic sucks too.

its all good i won't be alone doing it. they usually have four others with you. also if god forbid their is an accident the hospital will cover it. i doubt if ill get any tips for it but its all good. :)

Thats awesome man...I am trying to get into the hospital where I live. Its not easy to get in there...unless I knew someone. In this case I dont...which sucks. So I guess I gotta keep trying in the mean time.

Congrats Bro! :buttrock:

My current job I am getting $13 an hour...but its nights and part time. I just would like to get into the hospital with all of those benefits and stuff. :D I could go restricted where I work now and work both jobs if possible. That would be great.

this is where ill be working at. this and plenty of time to go back to college too.

The fact that you are getting full blown medical is fantastic actually. Nowadays for anybody to get decent medical insurance that doesn't cost over-the-top is doing a-ok.

Do hospital's medical plans look better than other non-medical plans? My Fiancee' has had 2 medical jobs so far, and it was a roll of the dice. 1st job had great bennys, 2nd was meh.

Where I live, 9.83 per hour plus medical/dental/life is considered a "Living wage". The study get's updated every year. The new data just came out.

But you can live in the country for far less.

DUDE! $11 and full Bennies....that is Pimptastic!

I live in Arizona, a job like that is SuperPhat and rare.

And for the type of job you're doing(not saying it is bad) the pay and bennies is unbeatable.

It is for the most part a low stress job, plus I assume you may get tips too?

And another cool thing, all the HONEY NURSES rolling into work....Sweeeet!

Rock on dude, just remember when the job starts getting tough and lame...you are simply using it as a stepping stone to a better job. Because from now on, getting a job with less pay is not on your agenda.

i think ill get friendly with the mammologist first ;)

but maybe it can also help me on the MS sitch, like cheaper medicine or supplies. when i go they want to give a full physical and all the fun shots for free. after that i get the picture id badge. i also like the idea of all the cars ill be riding in. :)

sometimes just when you think life has beat the crap out of ya, it throws a curve ball.
