Everytime I restart my pc, I have this .Net Messenger Service running in the background.

The only reason I even know it is running is that I will receive instant messages from people in my contact list via msn messenger but I do not have it running. When I run MSN Messenger, I get this popup on the lower right corner saying that I am being logged out of .Net Messenger Service......blah blah.........

I have that start MSN Messenger on startup disabled and also on Outlook express. But this shit that is starting up is not MSN Messenger.

For the life of me, I can not figure out how to disable this ".Net Messenger Service" from starting up on my crap.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

.NET Messenger is the new MSN Messenger.

Same service, different name.

Find the EXE file and delete it.

Actually, MSN Messenger is the newer version of the .NET Messenger service, as I recall. The .NET Messenger Service integrates itself into your XP account (using the Windows Messenger) and signs you in when you start up your computer, which is why people who have your .NET account added to their contact list can get ahold of you even when you think you're offline.

Anyway, here's information on how to get rid of Windows Messenger if you so choose to do so:

As squarehater said, MSN Messenger and Windows Messenger are based on the .NET Messenger Service.

Outlook express integrates Windows Messenger. Do your contacts in Outlook express appear as online and offline? I know you said you disabled something in Outlook express but you mentioned MSN Messenger.
