Hey all! As some of you know, there was an anime convention in Dallas this weekend and I was excited to go to this beause this would have been the first time that I have bought a weekend pass to a convention and stay at the hotel. I must say some things were good and some were not and I'll get to that later on. First thing's first, the results of my experience:
Friday:
My partner in crime Cabora and I drove from Arlington to Dallas and made our way to the Westin hotel. We got our room, set our stuff inside and went to the Adam's Mark Hotel. Once we entered, there was a huge line of people waiting to buy their membership pass (in other words, they waited till the last minute to get their passes thus spending convention time [the line was loooonng!] and paying extra money). While I entered, I came across a JBL cosplayer. I took his picture and went about my business. After that, I came across a friend who had a artist panel by the name of Amile (www.cordeval.com) This girl has some serious skills in art, you all should check out her webcomics and ask for some commissions. Next, I examined the arcade. I noticed they changed it up this and decided to move it and have customers pay their way to play instead of a membership like last year. They had a game I've never seen called Para Para Paradise. For a game that doesn't seem mainstream, I saw a lot of people mimicking the dance moves that the game was doing. I played it for a while and I enjoyed every minute of it because it was different. I played on that more than DDR.
Also while in the artist section, I ran into Josh Lesnick www.wendycomic.com and said a few words to him (note: his comic is Girly now, not Wendy), ran into the guys that made Red vs. Blue, Xero Reynolds, Diana X. Sparkle, Trunks & Soto, and Robert D. Jesus (you'll have to look the rest of these guys up on your search engines).
In the dealers room, the first thing I did was look for a group of my friends. See, Double-I (his name is Reii), Rufio, Thunderduck, and Demon were killing in sales. They had a couple of cosplay items for sale and did very well with what they had considering Double-I's mom is a professional when it comes to making clothes. The other dealers had some tight stuff too such as Harry Potter stuff, Yaoi, Yuri, manga, food, import music & games, swords, plastic guns that looked very real, and other various stuff that you'll find in a anime store. I wanted this one shirt so bad but the guys were out of slips for cards. It was a shirt that said "I can dance without the arrows".
For the cosplaying, it was beautiful! I have never seen cosplay by people look this damn good! Here they are (sorry that they are crooked):
*I got her e-mail address
The concerts were fun to watch! They had Kumiko Kato, :ZZ:, and two members of Dream peform up on stage. I'll get more into them later on. After that, I went to bed early because I had to go to work the next day for a meeting...shit.
I will continue tomorrow!
