FIA/Cart GP Racing Games; you miss them?

INDY 500 got me back into this sport, although I prefer GP racing. NASCAR killed the allure of the "true worldwide automotive racing sport". No other type of auto racing has more respect, has higher technology, and has higher talent than FIA/Cart (correct me if I'm wrong).

Was there any games in this genre really worth buying the last year or so? They were so common years ago. SEGA was heavy into it.

Fans of this sport/gaming, sound off! If you have some favorite games like this, please share.

Yes I know that PSP is due a F1 game later this summer... but something for the PC is what I need. Full specs, full technical parameters, science, season, everything. :buttrock:

An F1 game for a home console is what I've been waiting for and we'll see how that goes.

BTW, I go to Indianapolis this month to see the F1 U.S. Grand Prix. :buttrock:

SCEE's Formula One on the PS2 series is quite good IMO, as far as console F1 sims go, however, US gamers will have to import it as the series only get released in PAL/NTSC-J format, I have F1 04 & its very good.

If you want a TRUE sim experience get one of the PC F1 sims (GP4 or F1CC) & download the 2005 season updates, but you really have to be into F1 to get into those games since they are very technical, meaning you have to know how to set-up the car to suit the track & be prepared to spend a lot of time doing this. Plus, the driving physics are realistic & very unforgiving, but very satisfying once you get the hang of it.

Id say if you want a true sim experience & are prepared to spend a lot of time playing then get F1CC with the 2005 season update. However, if you want a more "dumbed down" sim with less options but easier to get into (& perhaps a little more fun IMO) then get F1 04 for the PS2. (F1 05 is coming out next month in PAL format).

So, F1 04 is my favorite racing sim at the moment.

I heard that the PSP F1 game (also made by SCEE) is going to be very "arcadey" aimed at the "pick up & play" market, much like burnout I suppose.

Much thanks for your input. Just looked into it all; no surprise the two you mentioned are released in Europe only... well seems GP4 is selling for about $20 brand new BIN after worldwide shipping. Cool
