Could someone be kind enough to measure the logos on the side of the full height red neo cab for me? Mine was repainted and I want to get some vinyl cut to restore the original logos as closely as possible.

I have some graphics I can vector, I just dont know how big to make them.

I have the 4 slot cab, the one with MVS , SNK, and Neo Geo logos all on the same side. I appreciate the offer, it would be nice to get this thing looking right :buttrock:

I have this exact same question.

BTW, Konig, here's my plan once I get the measurements:

My plan is to print out the logos on transparency, then project them onto the side of the cabinet (with a standard overhead projector). I'll back up the projector until the logos are the right height / spacing. From there, I'll adhere some contact paper to the sides of the cab, and trace the outlines of the logos.

I'll then remove the contact paper, and cut the logos out of the contact paper. I'll then use this as the mask for spray painting the logos on.

The reason for this is that there are two ways of doing the logos on the Neo cabs - either they're painted on top of laminate, or they're integrated into the vinyl. Either way, painted on will probably look the best.

PS - they make reproduction logo stickers - but I don't like em that much. They're a big red square with the logos on them. So, it would look a bit out of place on the cab (at least, that's what I think).

Yeah, I have seen the "conversion type" of stickers on ebay. They look good on the small cabs, but not so much on this type.

I thought about the whole paint vs. vinyl thing already. Basically it can only happen for me in one of two ways.

1. Strait up vinyl all the way

2. Reverse the vinyl image and use it as a stencil for my air brush.

anything beyond that isnt really worth it to me. Im never re-selling it, so its purley for me and thats it... should look good either way, better than being blank.

Me too. As I get through my restore, I'll be updating this thread which will (soon, tomorrow or Wednesday I think) have details about my control panel restoration and my new sides. Anyway, that thread has information about ordering custom vinyl, but here's the upshot:

custom vinyl sides runs about $170.

I actually found a pretty economical way to get the sides laminated (wood laminate like the 6-slot units), so that's what I'll be doing. In all the cabs I've seen with hard lam, they've had spray painted / air brushed logos.

Buying the reproduction vinyl and using that as a stencil (cutting out the logos then airbrushing them to the cab) occured to me as well, but any time you mess up a cut, it's 15-35 bucks. Versus contact paper / projection, where it'd cost about $3.

I might actually buy the reproduction, scan it, print it on transparency, project it, and then use the reproduction to gauge size... THEN trace contact paper, then cut it out, then use that as a template to paint.

Obviously, I'm overthinking this bit of my project, but I really want it to look good.

Well what I meant about the second vinyl option is this.... Take the image you would use to have a replica made, invert it so its a "negative" image... then have the vinyl cut that way.

So the vinyl acts as a stencil for painting... there doesn't seem to be a cheap way around it....other than the ebay stickers.

I have had lots of custom vinyl cut in the past, its not very expensive around here. I work in the signage industry, and could try to use some people I know to do it...but I don't like mixing work and hobbies like that, it never goes well on a personal level.

I don't think I have ever seen a laminate on an MVS cab before, sounds ideal when I think about it....but seems like a lot of work all in all.

How far are the logos from the top of the cab and from the sides? (where do I put them on the cab?)

Thanks so much for the info! It's super helpful!
