My friend was telling me about an import game on Gamecube that sounded very interesting. I can't remember what it was called but, just the premise sounded cool.
Apparently, this company made this game that came with at walking stick. I'm sure you're wondering what that's for. But, what you do with the stick is like actually walk with it. It's supposed to commemorate the 3000 mile journey (not sure exactly how many miles, that's just a guess) of a monk a long time ago. You upload how many steps you've walked with the stick onto a memory card that plugs into it.
Anyway, my friend told me only NCS had the game. It was rather expensive, too, like over $300.
If anyone knows what game I'm talking about, let me know, I may ask my friend in Japan to pick it up for me. Any information about the game, as far as clarifications, would be great too.

This game is called
Ohenro-san: Hoshin no Dojo (The Pilgrim: Dojo of the Awakening). Basically, you follow the path of the most ancient and most sacred Buddhist pilgrimage route on the island of Shikoku, the Shikoku-reijo. The path takes the average person about 40 days to finish on foot, and it takes you to 88 temples.
The game comes with a special controller that has three buttons: one on the left and right, and another in the top middle. You step on the left and right buttons to simulate walking, and the images that the game displays actually change to show you the distance you are traveling. The third top middle button is for the elderly who aren't as mobile; I assume they just press it down and the game automatically advances along the route for them.
Anyway, there's also a pedometer (not a walking stick) that you can take along with you when you go places, and then link it back up to the Gamecube. The software will then calculate how far you've walked in real life and translate that into distance in the game's pilgrimage route. Wild and crazy stuff, kiddies.
I guess that there are going to be four installments of the game, and the first (and as of yet, only?) title covers the first 23 temples on the route, complete with historical information about each location and the pilgrimage route.
That's all I know about the title, and I have never purchased it because the whole setup costs an arm and a leg (about $200 or so). I'll try to look around for a decent pic of the walking controller and edit it in this post.
And back on topic, I suppose you could consider Doshin the Giant an import title, since it never came out in the States. American gamers would have to resort to purchasing a PAL copy of the game if they really want to play it. I have been thinking of buying a copy, just because it would be something new to play and something that hasn't come out here.
