It should work, but you wont be able to use the 3rd and 4th players.

I would think so too, but the TMNT thing makes me wonder. Do you do any PCB gaming?

it's easy to convert an mvs cab to work with pcbs... the only difficulty is when the pcbs are jamma+. regular jammas should ALL be able to work in an mvs cab (if they are standard resolution) I know for a fact that you CAN play tmnt in an mvs cab... I have one, and I've played it using my mvs setup. the only difference between a jamma board and a neo mvs is a slightly different jamma pinout (but that would only really mess up the sound as the player controls, video, and power are all pretty much identical)

So when you ran your TMNT board, you just hooked it up as is? Did you need any cables or additional hardware?

also, are you saying the sound was distorted when you played?

I'm trying to find a few PCBs I can get into without modding my mvs cab. I'm eventually buying a CPS2 cab for the SF games....but I wanted to get a few old
favorites working on this cab for now if I can.

So far I have been looking at

TMNT 1+2
Double Dragon 2
The X-men game
and the Punisher

any suggestions?

if you run a jamma pcb on an mvs setup, the sound won't be distorted... it just probably won't be there. You don't need any additional hardware if you just want a testing setup (which is why I tried it on my mvs setup) see for yourself... I'll post links to the pinouts... this is the neo-mvs pinout - http://homearcade.org/BBBB/mvsjam.html
This is the jamma pinout - http://homearcade.org/BBBB/newjam.html
compare the two, and you'll see what I mean... they're mostly the same. If you want them to work 100%, you may want to do some modding of your harness (make an adapter), or... get someone to make one up for you. you know... I might be able to make you one for pretty cheap if you'd like. I've got to make some for myself anyways... I could whip you up one... might be a couple weeks though (I can't start it till school lets out next week)

I see what you're saying... I didn't think I would have any issues other than the typical button layout.... or the whole 2 player vs 4 player thing.

That would be great if you're already making some up. I'm sure I can do it, I'm just hesitant for some reason, not even sure why to be honest.

I'm not in a hurry, I probably wont have anything to try out until mid month or next month. Just PM me and let me know when you get around to it.

So are there any games that don't need anything at all? Or is it anything jamma in general will need at least "some" modding to the harnesses?

To put it as clear and honest as I know how... Jamma is the standard, and the neo geo uses a slightly altered version of that pinout. I'll shoot you a pm when I start buying the parts for the adapters... I'm guestimating around $15 shipped or so... not like those crazy people on ebay charging $40 plus shipping for a simple harness adapter... ... anyways... I'll pm you when I start buying parts, and can figure out exactly how much they cost.

If your MVS cab outputs mono, then you should be able to run JAMMA boards without any problem. I used to own a Neo Candy 25,and everything JAMMA worked on it flawlessly without mods.

When you do the audio test, if left comes out of left and right comes out of right you have a stereo cab and you will have to modify it for cps 2 and jamma..

If you do the test and left comes out of both and right comes out of both you have a mono cab and can play jamma games straight away with no mods..
