Battlefield 2 released!

Gentlemen,

My launch sequence just initiated. I absolutely can not wait for this game. Originally the release was supposed to be near august/september i thought. This is excellent news.

The new ranking system that delivers points/exp for non capture/kill abilities (healing, repair, etc) will hopefully be cool. I can't wait to be a medic again. I felt the worst aspect of BFV was that they took that class out.

Anyone else picking this game up?

Hopefully they release some system specs soon, i might just upgrade for this title.

Sales puke at gamestop told me November for BF2. If it is infact November, that's ok. Give me enough time to save for parts for a new computer. I can't imagine its gonna run well on a P4 2.26G with a GeForce 4 Ti card.

But I hear ya, and I hope you are right. BF1942 is a classic game and just as timeless.

When do you guys think the price will come down?

Sweet, I've been waiting for this game since Battlefield: Vietnam, as I thought BFV was a bit....underwhelming.

Correct me if i'm wrong but wasn't BFV developed by the canadian brancee of DICE while 1942 was developed in Sweden? Thats what i've always come to understand as the reason why 1942 kicked so much ass and BFV was only a slight improvement, mostly in terms of the graphics. The 1942 maps were just more fun then the Vietnam ones.

It looks to me like BF2 is going to play like the DC mod for '42...Except 50x cooler.

Because it's fast =P

That's about the only thing it has going for it. Good balance of random BS and realism, and very simplistic gameplay.

But it's so boring after a few games... doesn't have quite the depth of any other retail shooter out there.

Meh, STEAM is something Valve can pull off because they're Valve.
I don't know of any way to get past STEAM.

I'm feeling you man. My computer was able to run Doom 3, so i'm hoping it can run BF2.

I haven't read anything about system requirements yet.

Give me BF2 or give me Death.

I'm interested to see how BF2's destrructible environments work. So far i've seen zero of that in the videos. I know they wanted different weapons to do different penetrration damage :kekeke:

like tank shells going through walls and such.

I can't wait.

You bet, I loved COD! Still after all the recent pc shooters released I pretty much only play COD. I forgot the expansion pack name... but being able to go back into Carenten with smoke grenades and mountable turrets is fucking pimp! The expansion maps really didn't do much for me, though.

Wow, only 1.2gb of hard disk space. UT2k4 takes like 4gb... Maybe there isn't that many maps to choose from.

i am ever since i saw the 12 minute ninja video from e3 of it running on the 360, wow!! and add another game to the list of 360 launch titles i have to get.

Same here, I love United Offensive expansion, the only prob I have is that almost all the maps are a lot bigger so you have to rock out at Happy Penguin servers where they got 32-64 player servers. I've never had more fun in a multiplayer game then when you get 6 or 7 man tank crews and roll right through the middle of Foy, 2 guys in tanks, 2 guys on the guns, and the rest on foot watching the rear of the tanks and clearing the bazookas out of the windows..that shit's the bomb

I'm super pumped for 2, but I know a good amount of it is going to take place in the desert..One of the main reasons I never liked CS is because the desert maps get old too quick for me, I get sick of seeing sand.
