I'm probably one of ten people in the world who liked Exile on Genesis a lot. Yes, the story was cheesy, the gameplay was clunky, the game was really easy, and the characterizations were virtually nil, but I liked the setting and music a lot--reminded me a lot of those pseudo-Arabian fantasy novels like Weis & Hickman's Rose of the Prophet trilogy and some of Feist's earlier works (and TSR's Al-Qadim setting).
Does anyone know what are the differences between the TG CD and Genesis versions? Is the music a lot better on the TG CD? I loved the music in fedual Japan and Ancient Greece. Is the gameplay any different? Was any parts of the story or any stages removed from the Genesis version? I remember that the Genesis manual used screens either from the TG CD version or a Beta version of the game (as many shots were not part of the final Genesis game).
Also, how is Exile: Wicked Phenomenon? I heard it's ridiculously hard, but is the story any good? Has the gameplay been improved at all? And most importantly, how good is the music?
I'd be interested in the Working Designs localizations. I hope WD didn't put in too many pop-culture jokes and references like they did in Albert Odyssey. If the TG CD version of the original Exile is considerably superior to the Genesis version, I think I might pick up the console just for the game and its sequel.
