First off, I'm a huge Judge Dredd fan (the comic series, not the floating mod account) I have been since I was a kid. So when I saw Dredd vs. Death for the Xbox for $10 brand new I had to pick it up. I really wasn't expecting anything from the game considdering what I paid for it but as it turns out it's really a pretty good game.

It's your general issue FPS game. The controls are basic, you have jump, duck, melee attack, zoom, grenades, and the challenge (arrest) button as well as your movements (which, sadly, are backwards for me just like they were in Killzone). I'm playing through story mode at the moment and so far it's pretty good. I'm hoping to try out multiplay with my friends this weekend (modes are deathmatch, team DM, and an assortment of Judge Dredd themed games like Blockwar). You get a total of 12 bots to use in multiplay which ads to the fun.

The story centers around the Dead world judges and their subsequent resurection and attack on Mega City one. It's pretty spot on for the comics.

It's not the best FPS ever made, but for $10 brand new the Dredd fans will enjoy it.

Again i'm a big, big Judge Dredd and 2000AD fan and i thought although poorly produced this game for the $10 i paid for it is a enjoyable and fun game. The gamestop rating should add 4 points if you are a Judge Dredd fan.

Exactly. It's not an amazing FPS by any means, but it's decent and for for the price it's a good score.

It's still fun running the streets of Mega-City 1 bringing law to the lawless.

i really enjoyed the arrest system. i liked how you could arrest people for smoking and what not. It was a bit of a bonus being a Dredd fan, knowing that smoking is illegal. Plus really liked the Dark Judges. Would like to see the next game done around Judgement day. Now that would be fun.

There are a thousand good stories they could revolve a game around, like Block Mania or the Apocalypse War or something. I'm sick of the Dark Judges. Young Death did it for me; don't want to see any more. I guess I liked Necropolis, though.

Would be nice to see Judges from other cites-Brit Cit, Sino Cit, Emerald isle, etc. Also what ever happened to the Rogue Trooper game they were doing? Did it get canned or what? I still think Judgement Day with Strontium Dog as a playable charecter or any of the Judges from the other Cities would be cool. Judge Armitage or Red Razors for example. Would be nice too see some Cursed Earth action.

Now a Strontium Dog game... I'd like that more than another Dredd game or a Rogue Trooper game. The concept has unlimited potential...with Johnny's eyes, electronx, number 4 catridge, time traps, etc.... and you could have a larger variety of environments than you usually get with Dredd. Never happen, though.

Personally, I'd like to see a Dredd game based around the Apocalypse war or Necropolis.

I'm pretty happy with the story they have for Dredd vs. Death. I'm a sucker for the Dark Judges.

You can count me in for a Block Mania and/or Apocalpyse War game. Either of those has a lot of potential. Heck, why not have the good old fashioned trek across the Cursed Earth to save the late Mega City 2, plenty of game potential there too. Also with the Necromagus. I also think the Judge Dredd/Aliens crossover would make a great game :D

I have it on PC, to be honest I couldn't stand it for more than 25 minutes then I went back to Half Life 2. Then again I'm not a Judge Dredd fan which could have forced me to like it.

I was knocking around on the 2000A.D. site last night and I found out that 2000A.D. and Rebellion want to take another shot at a bigscreen version of Dredd. They currently have 2 scripts, one called Dredd Reckoning and another called Judge Dredd: Possession, the former involves the Dark Judges. Reps for 2000A.D. said the new movie will have a much darker look and feel compared to the 1995 Stallone mess. Whatever happens at least this time 2000A.D. will be directly involved so I'm holding out hope. I just hope they cast a no name as Dredd and that he keeps his damn helmet on the whole time.

Yes! Please please please don't let Dredd take his helmet off. I'm pretty sure they would do the Dark Judges mainly because of they are most well known. I would really look forward to a new JD film and would hope they kept it dark and true to the comics.

The problem with a Dark Judges movie is that you need to establish Dredd's world well enough before you bring in the outside element of the Dark Judges. Otherwise, you're just going to have Dredd look like a super hero, which misses the complete point of the comic and character. It's one of the reasons the Stalone movie was such a chunk of shit (although I liked the ABC Warrior). It was like he was a good guy fooled by this corrupt system, and it's like they're almost ready to give democracy a chance at the end of the movie or something.

That's why I think they'd be better off starting with a movie that emphasizes Dredd's place in his own world. Put him against the insanity of Block Mania, or have him swatting down the real good guys of the stories, like Chopper, or that girl who protested for democracy (forget her name). Show Dredd stamping out freedom and individuality, arresting people who hadn't even realized they had broken the law, and sentencing them to 20 years.

After they've established all that, then they can introduce the Dark Judges, or do the Cursed Earth saga or whatever. It will be tempting to do Dark Judges in a first movie, because I think they will appeal to a lot of people, but I think they should resist it until a sequel.

I completely agree. Establishing the atmosphere of Mega City One and the character of Judge Dredd and the Justice Department in a Judge Death movie would be difficult in an action-movie time frame.

Gotta make it a trilogy! Or, this is just dreaming, but a TV series if done right would be superb.

I read up on the 2nd script (Posession) and it centers around Dredd dealing with corruption in the Judges ranks and questioning his devotion to the system.

From what I've read bot 2000A.D. and Rebellion really want to get both scripts turned into movies for release in the US. If they can get a good director and really stick with the project all the way through I think they can turn out a decent couple of movies.
