Has been posted before, but I think it's pretty cool.

But no encoder on it. SCART connections.

sorry, I never saw it...and yeah, scart only...but I like the ingenuity.

If I had a scart capable tv, I would grab one of those. Germany huh....cool!

Neat. They obviously didn't think about Americans when they designed it though. I guess there's not really much to a supergun if you replace all the wires with a pcb. I wonder how difficult it is to make pcbs?!

There is a standalone SCART->Component transcoder that works very well.

...you dont use scart RGB in the USA?.. thats news to me anyways.. :P

nice supergun however youll still need a powersupply which will be manytimes the size of that PCB..

True, there's a pic of it in the auction, but I don't think it is a big deal as it can be hidden next to the wall plug. And a Jameco sc200 psu could have been used and it is not big at all.

Anyone have a link where I can buy this supergun outside of the auction?

PCBs are really not very hard to make. You can even buy kits at radio shack really cheap. Adding an NTSC encoder would not be too difficult, easiest way would be to have a connector for one not attached (or make all the needed circuits in your pcb and solder in the required components for onboard encoding), also DIN connector for power. Then you could put it all in something small (encoder mounted inside also) but external psu. Pretty spiffy, maybe i'll make something like this for my next gun. I wonder if radio shack has the stencil thingies needed for SOIC wide 16 ICs so I can use one of the AD725 encoders i've got laying around for a built-in encoder.

I would think a PCB similar to this might be fairly handy for consolisation too.

cheers,

Interesting stuff! Any idea how those pcb kits work? Maybe it would be possible to build an electrolysis bath and plate the circuits onto the board that way? I don't care about the encoders though because I'm in the UK :D

You start with a copper plated board. Then you put stencils over the copper you want to keep (traces and solder points), coat with etching solution which removes unwanted copper, and you are left with one complete pcb. For nice finishing touch you can then coat the top of the board with a nice green non-conductive surfacing for that extra professional look ;)
