I just got a cable plug like thing for my Saturn, so I hope to do the same for my Atari Jaguar. Do they also sell on Ebay S vid plug cords for my Nin tendo SNES, my Genesis, as well as for the original Playstation? As soon as I get the money for my AES to be modded with Svid and componet and the Neo Bitz board, I am living large.

If I remember well there's no s-video official output for SNES and Genesis unless you internally modifiy them. There is a s-video cable for PSX though, you should be able to buy it in any shop (is the same as the PS2 one).

I'm not sure about the others, but the original model SNES will output S-video. However the newer, smaller SNES model will not. You can still order the OEM S-video cable directly from Nintendo, and it fits the SNES, N64, and the Gamecube.

I don't think that any of the euro Famicoms output Svideo...

I dunno though.

If it has an RF output, it's an older model.

The redisigned model is much smaller.

You can get the AV cable at Gamecrazy/Gamstop/EB...

Snes uses the same AV cable as Gamecube and N64.

Just go in and ask for a Gamecube Svideo Cable.

ok

Even if the plug does fit, will it work signal wise? I can't locate the serial number for my SNES.

As long as it's the old style SNES it should work. The newer shrunken SNES model that came out after N64 does not have Svideo(I think).

OK. I got two Playstations--the orginal, which I bought in '97, with 3 RCA type plugs, and next to it, a rectangle slot for AV multi out, and a PS2, which i bought a S vid cord for. Once, by chance, I unplugged the Svid cable from the PS2 socket, and plugged it in the PS original rectangle socket; it fit, and the sound and video played through that. I hope I didn't damage my S vid cord that way; it's for the PS2, which I plaugged back in and it still worked. I only hope that there wasn't any dirt and dust in that PS Original socket. I hope that dirt didn't pass to the S vid plug, nor cause any permenat damage to the plug....now all i need is Svid plugs for my Jaguar and my Genesis.

P. S. : both the rectangle sockets on the PS original and the PS2 both say "AV multi out."

I don't understand your question, I said that the AV multiout of PS and PS2 are the same and you can use the same cable in both. Using your PS2 cable in the PS is no problem, and as you say it worked OK.

OSG Sales page

SNES S-Video cables
NEO GEO/Genesis1, SMS compatible AV cables (cheapest price for NEO AV cables ANYWHERE)
Genesis2/CDX/Nomad/32X AV cables

For Genesis S-video you need to click on 'SEGA Genesis' on my page, as they require modification.

the snes can do s-video...and you can use the same s-vid cord as you would on your gcn....and the other way around. When I first got my gcn the s-vid cords on ebay were like $15, so I got an snes on for $2 and it works just the same.

you can't make an s-vid plug using the AV port on the back, you can only make an RCA type plug, and the AV port only outputs mono sound.

If you look at omnedon's post, he links to his website, as he does the mods for s-vid and stereo sound.

or, if you are handy with a soldering iron, you can do the mods yourself.

either way, the s-vid mod is a must! I couldn't believe the quality of the picture untill I did it myself

I can't @ all. omnedon is canadian, and that means too far away, since I live in the states. I also can't aaford it, and if my Gen 1 gets modded, it'll be ruined. Anyone else or any other way?

shipping to and from the states is cheaper then within our own boarder (at least from what I have found)

also, I'm pretty sure D-lite does these mods as well (he is in the US).

OK....

3 questions, the first two for omnedon:

Can you send me the way you svid mod a Genesis so I can do it myself?
Is the S vid TRULY in the Genesis, but it's in the internal works?

Is there a way to build your own s vid/ stereo sound cable or attachment box (a la The Cat Box) for my Jaguar? Even E bay ain't got them.

If you can't solder, then you are of luck.

you have to solder a couple caps and resistors to the video chip hidden inside the genesis. and of coarse mount the s-vid and RCA sockets.

as for the Jag...I don't have a clue, someone else will have to answer.

2 down, 4 remaining.

I got the Pelican Svid AV cabe for my PS Original and it's fantastic. I also got, also by Pelican a Game Cube S vid cable for my SNES, and it's just as good. One thing: with the new cable, for the SNES, some of the images look pixeleated a bit sometimes with broken horizontal lines through them. Is that normal? Maybe if i make an adjustment? Anyhow, I love them both; all the remains is my AES, my Jaguar my Genesis, my Saturn and maybe my Coleco Vision.

Logics stuff is great! great seller too!

I am NOT too far away. I've done systems for NG members Stinky Dinkins, chimpmeister, endgamer, Lust for lard, and more, all in the US.

If you can afford an extra $2 for shipping each way, you can use OSG. :D
