I just received my DoDonpachi PCB from a friend in Japan. So I get it today and am pshyced to try it out. I plug it in and see a small wave of snow cross the screen, I think nothing of it as a lot of PCB's do wierd things when booted up. I wait for 15 seconds or so and still haven't seen a picture, seems kind of wierd. I push the credit button and the sound kicks on but still no picture. The game plays with full sound but does not display anything. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? I spent a lot of money on this and it's not even working :oh_no:

Trying to help too..

I was thinking if it had daughter boards then maybe that would be the problem as I've yet to fix my Tekken 2 PCB that sounds to have a similar problem..

I'd say make sure the Chips/eproms are socketed well and the edge connector super clean.
If daughter boards are present maybe a better connection between them would fix the problem..

I found this PCB pic taken from of Crazy Kong.(Just to show what the PCB looks like) but it's Donpachi.

a piccy may help

What is piccy?

When I turn the game on the slight wave of snow flickers here and there as I can hear the game playing. I'm wondering if it may have something to do with the voltage knob on the PCB.

I also noticed on the solder side of the PCB it seems some of the caps were either replaced and resoldered or just fastened back on.

This is very strange as this board came from G-Front in Japan, I've bought over a dozen PCB's from them and have never had a bad board.

@chris1: I tried pushing down on the socketed chips and didn't end up with any different results. All sounds and voices are there though so I'd imagine this would be a simple fix, maybe not though.

Get a look at that repair solderieng((caps were either replaced and resoldered or just fastened back on.))
It may have cracked during transit or isn't flowing right...
I dunno about touching a voltage knob on the PCB as like that one on the Taito F-3 I was warned not to touch..

Can you try it in another cab./another set-up..?

Check the wiring diagram/pinout..make sure everything is exacy to your current set-up..
IMO one ground wire in the right spot can cause problems..

Ohh ttooddddyy means pictures/screen shots of what your getting on screen..I'd like to see them too..
