A forum member here was selling his Vega Jr here "as is" and states that the SG worked perfectly with his CPS3 board... but never worked with his CPS2.

What do you guys think?

If the owner had tested it with another JAMMA board besides a CPS2, that would provide greater insight... I simply think the CPS2 boards are dead (thanks alot capcom! )

I already sent out the MO for payment, and I have some knowledge of how an SG works since I made one, so I figured if it's the SG, there wont be much issues resolving them.

There is almost no reason that it should not boot with a working CPSII if it worked with a CPSIII...

It's likely that the CPSII boards are dead or not connected tightly enough...

Vegas are very nice setups... Even if something is broken... It's an easy fix.

Are you sure it's a Vega Jr.? The reason I ask is because a member here had one and when I asked to see pictures of it it turned out to not be a Vega at all. Another reason I ask is because he also had a problem with the unit in some way or another, can't remember exactly what it was now though.

Here's a pic of my Vega Jr.

It works!!!

I can't see what was wrong with it, it works perfectly on my MVS PCB boards (MV-1F, MV-1C)... and I got it for $200 :buttrock: saved my self at lest $150 or more.

Anyways, there is one thing I can't figure out though... it is not playing my PGM board and it does not play the CPS2 board (not even the pink screen that represents that no cart is inserted).

I checked the voltages and it's putting out:

+5.10 V

-4. something V

+10.8 V

I dont think this is the problem as to why the CPS2 and PGM dont work though... either way, I think I got a great deal for sure.

Does the CPSII work on another gun?

Sometimes, if the CPSII board does not have a good A+B connection, it will display NOTHING or a BLACK SCREEN.... The pink screen only appears in some instances.

Put the boards together, plug it in and turn it on....

Now press down hard on the boards. Press down on different sections of the boards and at angles... See if anything comes up.

What about the PGM?

That is still not working, I think it's the ground on the JAMMA loom... this one that came with the SG does not have ground on both sides of the connectors, I thought it was a unsual set up... probably that will cause some boards not to function?

My ST-V displays something, but it's a scambled picture.

Darn, I looked on mostly everything on the wiring...

I tried wiring for the other ground section of the JAMMA connector, and that changed nothing... I still dont get it.

My self made SG is locked away in storage and my parents have the keys... they wont be here until 2months from now, so I cant see if these other PCBs will work.

Found the problem... it was the PSU!

It needed some ajusting for the 12v... It was at less than 11v the last time... now it's 12.1V and works GREAT! (It seems that Ne0-geo is less sensitive to having exact voltages than that of other PCBs).

Such a simple problem... this is the best deal I have taken up on NG, I got this SG, along with 2 CPS2boards and SFA2 only for $200... hard to beat that, that even beats me getting my 2nd ST-V mobo wt diehard arcade for $35 total :D

Huh that's wierd...

The 12 V issue must have been a supergun issue.

I'm almost certian that you can use a CPSII without 12 volts.

Well, SFA2 was dead when I checked it... but the ST-V and PGM started to work since I increased the voltage.

Only other problem now is a dead P2 3rd action Switch, needs to be replaced.

You mean the button?

Is it a Candy style or a regular one?

I guess it's Candy style for use in thin metal panels... easy to remove or instal.
