UPDATE: Jameco/Ault SC200 Power Supply Group Purchase

OK, I'm considering picking up a load of Jameco (really Ault is the manufacturer) SC200 power supplies and the accompanying cable for the wall socket. I'm throwing it out here because we can save a TON of cash on a large purchase. And the main benefit is I live about 3 miles from Jameco, so no shipping on that!

Here's the breakdown on the pricing:

# of Units Price EA
USD
1+ 19.95
10+ 17.95
50+ 14.36
100+ 10.77

I use these all the time (prefer them to the SW300 as that one seems to be a dirty power source, has less logic grounds, and I believe has lower current in practice) and would pick up a large order myself, no problem.

So, I ask, who wants in? I will work with non-US members too which I'm sure will make a few people happy. And I'm not going to charge for the service since I will benefit from a group purchase too. All I will ask is:
unit cost x # units
applicable California tax (8.25%)
shipping to you by your chosen method of shipping.

Here is the cable for this unit (standard computer 3-prong cable, actually):

Part Number #38050 PWR CORD,6',AWG 18/3,SVT,BLK,
300/case UL/CSA

# of Units Price EA
USD
1+ 3.75
10+ 3.29
100+ 2.89
250+ 2.17

I will figure out the weight of the boxed units and cables so you can calculate postage. But for now I want a show of hands on the subject. Remember, if you are a US member, I can stuff probably 4 units in a $7.70 flat rate USPS Priority mail box. Pretty cheap.

I'll go in for few. I've been looking for a way to pick some of these up without using a credit card...

Would you be willing to get the panel mount jacks too?

I plan on getting 100 of these and 100 of the cables. In other words, I will probably buy 100 and offer to people to buy from that supply. That way the price is cheapest possible.

Please post in this thread what you want.

Nice idea D-lite. Good service to the community. I don't need any right now, but maybe in the near future, so it'd be good if you still had some left.

Is it a good idea to get the wall cables though? They'd be useless for anyone living in the uk and any other country that doesn't use the 2 pin plug. It's easy enough to get the right cable in people's respective countries.

Well cables are up to the buyer. I know I will need them.

I may also institute a minimum purchase of 2 of the PSUs. I'm not making any money on it and I don't feel like packing and mailing 50 individual packages to people. Except for people in Europe or other countries.

$2.89 each seems like a lot for 100+ bulk order of those 3 prong cords. Is there a bay area HSC down there? We have one up here in RP and Santa Rosa. Their website has these listed at $2.19 but I could swear they are cheaper at the store. I remember seeing them for $1.50 and even in a bin once for $1 each.

It would save you $70, but I don't know if there is any difference in the quality.

I use them and have never had a problem.

Yeah, HalTed is close enough, but I'm most concerned about the PSU itself at this point. I'd like to get some people on board before committing.

No, Neo MVS does not need -5V. These work perfect for Neo Geo and are the most popular power supplies used in consolization. And the only things I've found they don't work for are Neo 6-slots and Hyper. Very few JAMMA boards need -5V.

Alright! Count me in then :D I'm good for two cables and psu's... Have you tried these psu's with cps-2?

I'm not D-Lite (but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last nite), but I have tested them on a CPS-2 and they work fine.

I have used it with smaller neo 1 slots (mv-1fz and mv-1c), a neo 4 slot, pgm, cps2, atomiswave, and stv........and they all worked fine.

I will be in for a couple of the supplies. Don't actually need the cords though, have a few lying around already.

It's still happening, and I may even pick up the PSUs today, but I'm hesitant to drop $1300 without a bit more participation here.

Not after fees and dealing with BS. No thanks. I'm not looking to make a profit, just save some cash on mine and offer a deal to people interested. If I could get about 30 or so committed, then I'd do it today. I know Jameco has them in stock right now.

Alright... maybe a post in the selling thread would yield better results.

I'm game for one Dean since I'm hopefully still building that supergun this summer between work

So I'll just take one, hope you can get 100 people sorry I can only get one ;) wouldn't have a use for any more. And I suppose I'll need a cable too, am I correct? Enlighten me.

With the amount of people who post on here asking about power supplies for cmvs and superguns I'm sure you'd sell them all eventually, even if it takes 6 months or so. Depends if you can wait that long...

I'd definitely buy two with cables (I have a 1-slot I've been meaning to consolize for, like EVAR) and I just might buy another cps2 A board and consolize that, too...

Please LMK what's going on with it, when it happens.

Well, I can easily justify 50 for myself for use over about a year. And I know I could unload them all eventually, but just don't have the space for 100 of these and cables for extended time. And also that's a lot of cash sitting idle in power supplies.
