I am trying to make my blacks blacker...

Any one know where the contrast control is on an impress?
I have found the brightness no problem...but cannot find contrast..there is a small pot on the side of the monitor control panel, but I do not want to touch that just in case... !!

I have a manual but it is all in Japanese, some things make sense but not the contrast control...

Some monitors do not have contrast pots, its a case of setting up the other controls to achieve the desired effect.

What type of monitor is it ??

It is a Hitachi 29 inch monitor...
I have on the remote adjustment under the control panel, brightness, red, green, blue but no contrast..

Actually it might be Toshiba....

is the screen voltage to high, the bottom pot on the lfbt, below the focus. that will cause "low contrast"

There are more adjustments at the back of the monitor.

Since the setting at the back affects the front settings, if the brightness setting on the back is too high the lowest setting on the front will be too bright.

So change the setting on the back lower, then adjust at the front.

I don't think there is contrast even in the back.. might be mistaken though.

The adjusters on the back are on a small PCB dangling from the CRT itself.

If the monitor is in the vertical position, they will be very hard to find since they will be facing downwards which is very awkward. Rotate the monitor to the horizontal position, but make sure you disconnect a few plugs first, because as I found out rotating it with them in stretches the wires and pulls them out anyway..

The adjusters are white round calipers, plastic :D

Hope this helps.

They are for the rgb drives and cut offs (or bias), do not adjust those.

The screen pot should be backed off then slowly increased so that the phosphors just begin to illuminate with the brightness set at minimum, then back off a few degrees. Best set with low ambient light.

Once again, please dont mess around if you are not shure about the safety issues.
