Which system to buy for Vertical Shmups

I just figured out my Neo 29 cab has a rotatable monitor (YAY!). It seems a little weird for a Neo cab to do this since all of the games are horizontal (I think...). I love shmups and would like to take advantage of the vertical monitor, but don't know which system would be best to buy. Here are some choices I came up with, please let me know if you have others:
  • Leave it jamma (example - Raiden)
  • Capcom CPS-2 (example - 1944)
  • Taito G-Net (example - Psyvariar)
  • Sega STV (example - Radiant Silvergun)
  • Taito F3 (example - Gekirindan)
Again, I am having a hard time searching for vertical shooters and would love any help I could get with this. Thanks

Leave it JAMMA and you should be able to play all of the above.

Yup, keep it JAMMA and you won't have to go with just one.

Don't forget PGM. Not the most common of finds, though... you might have to get one of the finders here to hunt around in Japan/China for you.

DoDonPachi, EspGaluda, Ketsui, need I say more?

I would collect PGM myself, but I want to finish my CPS2 collection first =)

Whoops, for some reason I thought he was asking for which mobo to collect.

Chalk it up to driving back home in the rain while exhausted.

Sorry if I sound dumb, but I am kind of new to this. I don't really understand. I thought I need the appropriate motherboard to play those games. I know all of the motherboards connect to jamma. For example, if I want to play Radian Silvergun, I will need a STV motherboard right? I'm not sure I was clear when I posted this topic. If what I am saying is correct, which motherboard supports the best shooters? Again, sorry if this is confusing, I am very bad at actually saying what I mean!

I was thinking about that question, too.

I would go with Taito's Type-X

If you guys are strictly talking about old systems, I would say Seibu's SPI.

Raiden/Raiden Fighters series!

I am trying to stay on the cheaper end. Naomi is still to expensive for me. Sorry I didn't clarify that before.

Which vertical shooters does Dreamcast have? I knew Gunbird 2 would go vertical, but that is the only one I knew of. Please enlighten me!

just buy JAMMA boards that were never converted to any console.. esprade, guwange, batrider, bakraid, vasara, brave blade, raidens.. umm yeah.. the list pretty much never ends.

since you already have the cab its just plug n play the day away.. :multi_co:

most mobos are pretty simple like CPS2, stv, gnet etc.. naomi on the otherhand requires a shitload of expensive addons and bits n pieces here and there.. not the best/easiest way to begin your arcade venture ;)

Thanks sven666, RGP, Robert, and everybody else! Are some games available in standard JAMMA as well as a motherboard/cart setup? So far, I like the idea of just JAMMA and the Dreamcast option. I'm glad I asked everybody here! Please let me know if you have any other great suggestions.

LOL. Silvergun is verticle, but you just don't need to play it tate.

As far as which motherboard to collect for, I would go with the CPS2, then the ST-V.

I think he want's to know what games are played with the monitor in the vertical plane...
Silvergun is played on a horizontal monitor as I am sure you know...
