Hello all, i just finished restoring everything to my 4 slot mvs cab, but my memory card reader does not work
all the pins in the reader are there, my memory card works. Sound comes out of the headphone jacks. I've wired one of the "green" gound wires to the 4 slot pcb frame, and the other to the corner of the memory pcb. my "test memory card" screen in the test mode never changes.
any ideas? thanks. i can add pics if nessicary, i realy want to finish this!
thanks in advance. :)

Make sure the card goes all the way in/clicks in..
Make sure that "all" the pins in the reader are straight, and not bent..no dust or..in there.

Make sure the cables are plugged into the right ports on the motherboard and that they are pushed all the way into the motherboard/straight..(On my smaller 4 slot mobo they seem to click in.)

The sound part is seperate and the ground wires will not prevent it from working..

How do you know the memory hard is working..?..maybe it needs to be formatted/it's not being read.

Reading the thread I just went into Harware Test on my Big Red.

At the "test memory card" screen....I pushed the card in and it changed to..

"Memory Card Test OK".

Note:..my card clicks in..then="Memory Card Test OK".

Also make shure you have the leads around the correct way.

CN6 and 7 match up on the mobo and reader board.

I've used my memory card on my AES system for quite some time now, so I know that works.
When i put my card in, the hardware test memory card screen does not change.

is CN6 & 7 the memory feeds, or is it the 4 pin?
Am i just retarded and have 6 & 7 mixed up? - could that be it?

all the reader pins on the memory pcb board are there, and 1 was bent (ever so slightly) so i made it straight again, and when i put my card in it, they don't move or bend again. I push the card in until it feels like it will not go any further without breaking. i hope it's just CN6 CN7.

and thanks for ALL the help chris1 and ttooddddyy. (you guys rock) :buttrock:

Yep, so the memory card worked after i switched the 6 and 7 cables.

i have Samurai Shodown 1,2,3, and 5 in my 4 slot, so i started up 1 to play Amsuka right away..... and no "load?" prompt. ???WTF??? tried SS2, again, no prompt. played a quick loss in SS5, and saved a game. went back, loaded that up. turned the power off, on, loaded ss5's saved game, no problem. Did my memory card just reset? i don't think i eraced that data. is there a way to check your saved data on the arcade like the home version has? i might just check it that way again.

thanks again for the help.

I am now a proud owner of a fully redone 4 slot dedicated cab!!!

Sweet!..
I'm not sure if you actually get a load prompt with those games....I'll have to check..

The only way I know of to check a memory card is by using an AES...
I forget if you can check it with an UNI BIOS chip in an MVS..

Is your AES a US AES and your MVS a US mobo...?..or Jap..
I'm not sure if that matters but with "linking" a Jap mobo to US mobo/AES it doesn't work so I'd figure the same for memory cards used between different region systems.

Congrats on the :.. fully redone 4 slot dedicated cab!!!

THANKS!!!!

my AES is Jap, and my 4 slot mvs is US. My memory card works on SS1 and SS2 on the home system, with a load prompt. i might save a ss1/2 game on the arcade to see if it asks me if i want to over ride the saved game or something.

oh yeah, when i looked at the memory card on my aes (before today) i have saved games from my jap aes, and my friends us aes. some game titles are in english, and some in jap chars.
