Chances are that even if you had the inverter board MV-ELA the panels would not illuminate anyway :( they have a lifespan (due to their electro chemical properties: which have probably now expired. There are many threads on the topic

Well.....I took out the wood that holds the speakers in and there she was just hanging there unplugged, the MV-ELA :multi_co: ...however two of the resistors are burnt  ....I'm gonna replace them and see what happens...hopefully they burnt out early in the age of the cabinet...maybe the marquee lights may work. If not......I guess to make it more reliable and easy....cut the wood under the speakers and shove in a floresent.....or is that totally taboo??? :annoyed:

IMO..Do what you feel is best..If it's easier, more efficient to put in the floresent.....go for it.. :buttrock:

...................
I'm more to keeping a cab original but that's just me..I went crazy getting an original set of working bulbs for my big red.........And so far I have one original type working bulb in the Neo Gold, and buying four replacements for my Candy cab(project)

.................................................
NOTE:..
If that stuff doesn't work.MV-ELA,Panels...Please don't trash it..
You can sell that stuff on Ebay...(or here)

People look for the driver, wiring etc..

....
(I'm usually bidding on those type auctions.. :p )

I just threw in a fluorescent light behind my MVS 4 slot marquee, and it really does make it look beautiful. I first had the original marquee in there, and then I threw a BAM:again in, and that makes the MVS simply shine with radiance and beaut.

Man..that sux. I guess i've just been super lucky. My cab was build in 1990 and has, from what i can tell, all original boards. Hope the boards/bulbs don't burn out anytime soon. :annoyed:

You could make one out of Black Poster Board....

Or:

EBay..

Check these Seller's "Items" on Ebay.

Plus other searches may turn up a suitable bezel

I'm pretty sure Happ sells monitor bezels for a decent price...

http://www.happcontrols.com

(i'm spoiled by having an actual Happ office here in Vegas and not having to pay shipping charges... it's really nice when I go buy stuff like monitors)

It was an empty cab with the harness and PS. I had to replace the PS set up...I had one I pulled from a Vindicators that I stripped....it was all set up right on a piece of plywood....it was great. I popped a 25" monitor in that I took from another diehard that I paid cheap for. That needed some work on the chassis. The control panel was rusted bad...so I stripped and painted it. Bought a 4 slot, some games added T-moulding and am gonna finish it off by the end of the week.......Plus I cant get away from playing Blazing star in it....I have league bowling and windjammers in it. I also have Irritating maze(cant work needs trackball, I used it to test the 4 slot) and Jockey Grandprix.....cant figure out how that one works.....will not cycle to other games once it hits it....more work..but fun :glee: ....Chris what do you have????

Sounds like it's really coming about...Awesome man...

..................................................
Jockey Grandprix:
Try turning off the Demo mode(soft Dips)if it has one for Jockey Grandprix.....
it may then pass to the next cart.
I figure a Jockey Grandprix would be set-up in a 1 slot mobo in Use/Arcades etc..IMO it should cycle through itself..starting it's own demo over and over that could be a long demo in itself.
Try a different cart line-upand putting it in the first slot...and a super cart connector cleaning.

Irritating maze:
You can get the track ball at Happs but it's costly..better off keep searches up on Ebay and it might turn up.(I've seen the Track Ball set-up alone pop up several times)
If your looking to get it...
I'm not sure what you have otherwise as this kits comes with a whole buncha crap...

...........................................................................
I'm working on making a seperate/special CP just to house the Track Ball..So I can take it on and off a Cab..

I bought the Irritating Maze kit for $25 off of Ebay....couldnt resist....would love a dedicated with the compressed air...but to big and costly to ship....nothing comes up here on Long Island. I have a Golden Tee that I may try to switch it in and out of.....but I still need the one slot......tell ya...Neo Geo gets you addicted...I would like a 1-2-and a 6 slot..... :drool_2: .I will try what you told me with Jockey grand prix..

Ps.....just cut the marquee wood out and added a flouresent...the speakers screwed right back in even though they where seperated in the cutting and the bottom part that holds the 4 hole marquee screwed right back in also....pretty clean and niffty mod !!!!! Just gonna see if one flouresent is good enough. But it will illuminate the top NEO GEO marquee too....so it should be cool.....

You have 3 neo geos?????? :( :) wwayyy....cool...so I will not feel bad when I get more... :tickled:

Just looked at your collection.....my wife thinks I'm nuts drooling at it all. :drool_2: But she was impressed and liked the coca cola collection also.
What state are you in??

Marquee lighting solved...I know its not total stock, but its a cool and cheap mod !!!!!!!! Besides blasting away in Blazing star I dont know the difference. It also lights up the NEO GEO top part of the marquee....not sure if it did that in the original. The 8 ohm seakers hurt my ears...alittle tinny sounding...has anybody upgraded their speakers?? If so what did you use.....

Cool!!..I never thought about lighting up the Neo Geo part..(ideas are flashing in my head now).that is very cool.. :buttrock:

How did the speakers sound before you removed that wood..?
I was just figuring that maybe they are resonating differently now..
Maybe adding another bolt to hold that speaker wood down may help.
Do you feel a vibration in the wood/speaker holders now..?..that IMO could change the sound making it Tinny.

I guess you could upgrade the speakers but you have to match the Ohms..

not the first time i've seen a light like that in a cab. my friend NeoGeoMike bought his 6 slot that way. and it had an amp for the speakers too!

might buy that from him now that my 4 slot is done.

gotta have something to work on!!!

Speakers sounded the same as before I did the mod.....I just want a richer sound........but I guess I have to remember its just a video game......just??? what the heck am I saying?? LOL...anyway...I know they are 8 ohm.....I will see what I come up with and post it here if I mod it.
ps Chris...the mod looks cooler in the dark and its a 6 dollar bulb if it goes bad.....If SNk didnt make the originals to last , its there fault. :glee:
