Someone back me up on this... if you release game software in the USA isnt it now Federal law that it must be listed with a rating from the ESRB? Neo Geo Freak claims to release USA versions and says they are the offical distributor... Is this a way to make NGF pay fines, or goto jail? Or would they stop claiming that the games are their own if posed with such a threat. Look Into It.

Well i know when SNK was actually releasing games in the US such as MOTW's, that game didnt have any esrb rating on it and neither did any other neo game for that matter. I think the US just suggests you put an esrb? Ah who knows.

I doubt ESRB ratings are law. I think ratings are bullshit to begin with but I'll leave that discussion for another day. Memories of Sen. Kohl(D-WI) and Sen. Loserman (D-CT) are still way too fresh in my head.
I think we should alert the IRS about them. If they claim to be a business, then they should pay taxes as such.

If Sen.Kohl didnt exist I wouldnt be a game fanatic, as my Sega Genesis and Toe Jam and Earl were purchased from Kohls department store (Sen.Kohl owns the chain) on credit, and given to me for Christmas one year.

Currently I live at the Keflavik Naval Air Station in Keflavik, Iceland. Prior to joining the Navy, I lived in South Milwaukee (that's a suburb, not the south side of Milwaukee, I don't know how many people have been confused by the two). Kind of ironic that I was born in Memphis and you're the one living in Tennessee.

The ESRB rating is not mandatory, it's just the fact that retailers (major chains) won't buy games without rating in order to please parents, which is nonsense since many kids 18 or under can go into a store and buy M-rated games, I guess $$ and sales talk.

BTW, Iori, it looks like you live near the INT'L Airport in Iceland, I've always been intrigued by Iceland and I need to pay a visit there sometimes.

vincewy, I work in the weather office which is next to the military airport which is across the way from INT'L airport. I can see said airport from the office.

The ratings aren't law. It's just like the Comics Code Authority, It just makes the games "Retail Chain" freindly.

We all don't have to worry about Wal Mart ordering any KOF 2k carts anytime soon, so we should be fine, lol

The ESRB ratings are on a participant basis only. They are not the law and they are not required. Actually one of the great things about our video game industry in the US is that they do things like this on their own to help people make the best choices at the store. Just my two cents.
