Hi. I've got a pretty damn good soldering iron (a hakko 936 soldering station setup), it's got temp. control from 400-900 farenheit (200-500 celsius). I bought some solder along with it, but the solder seems to need alot of heat to melt. I usually end up burning pcbs if I try to solder on one, so I mostly just use it for cables, and connectors at the moment. I want to be able to solder on pcbs without burning the @#! out of them, could you point me to some better solder to do the trick?

I get the thin resin-core solder at Radio Shack. 60/40 mix. Melts nice and quick even at 15 watts.

I've only ever seen lead free solder for sale in this country :annoyed: The stuff we get is composed of silver, tin and copper. Does it melt at a higher temperature? Sometimes it seems to take ages to melt if it's a large joint.
