Will something like this work with an arcade monitor here in Europe?:

I'm asking this because somebody told me that I could mess up my monitor (which runs on 240V) if I use an american degaussing coil (which runs on 110V) even if I use it with a step-down transformer. Something about a 50/60Hz difference. Any truth to this?

That would work fine with a step down transformer, the 50/60 Hz makes no difference.
This would be better for your application, its the same as the one I use.

Sounds sort of odd , but in a pinch you could always use a power drill :D
