Years ago, I use to go through these guys all the time and I was always impressed with their service.

However, I ordered an import Gamecube game the other day from them and was very unhappy with their service. They listed the game as in stock, so I ordered it thinking it would go out within 24 hours like most other import shops. (NCSX, VideogameDepot, Play Asia, ect.)

After waiting over a day for some type of communication that my order had been processed, I sent them an e-mail asking about my order. They replied that they would send out an e-mail as soon as the order shipped. A day later, I e-mailed them again only to find out that they did not have the game in stock and that they would ship it out when ever they received it. (A week, month...who knows)

I e-mailed them back stating that the game is listed as in stock on their web site and that when I pay 18.00 dollars for three day shipping, I am expecting the game to ship out within a reasonable amount of time to justify the high shipping charge. After a few e-mails back and forth they finally cancelled my order. (Which by now the game should have arrived)

So....(not that anyone will read all of that) has there been some type of change with Japanvideogames.com? I really use to enjoy dealing with these guys but like I mentioned above, that was years ago. Also, 18.00 for three day shipping? That is insane. They want close to 45.00 for over night shipping on a import gamecube game.

Anyway...just venting. Found the same game, in stock at Play Asia, with more shipping options available to me.

You know, I used to deal with them all the time (gave them many many hundreds of dollars while I was into the AES scene... back when games were coming out a lot)... they were great, but haven't dealt with them in years. Perhaps they're slipping, now? Man, I even bought my import DC there long before DC came to the US. Oh well, at least they can't be half as bad as buyrite?

Basically the game was out of stock and they refunded you your payment. If that was a sin, I wish everyone were sinners!! They are the same people as always, I know a few of them and they are top notch. In a perfect world, sites and inventory would always match up, but its always going to be that way with 1 or 2 guys running a site with daily changing inventory. $18 for 3 day shipping is high. New games have a shitty profit margin, so unfortunately many sights have gone the route of "handling fees"

Thats to bad.
I used to buy all my Neo games from them in the early 90's before using the internet.
I used to call them every month and buy the newest Neo release.
I guess they just don't keep up with the stock on their web page.

our inventory is 98-99% accurate all the time... but even recently, we had 2-3 games on our cart that customers bought that were previously bought.

The error was due to us running 2 carts at once while changing over to our new cart.

But I do know what you mean as a consumer, its annoying. I get annoyed with it as well.

They're decent. I've been doing business with them since 1991.

Since they actually own and operate an import shop, with actual walk-in customers and not just a virtual store, perhaps that could be the problem?

Basically don't order off of their site, order through there Ebay auctions only. They always have the stuff from there auctions on stock and ready to ship. But if you order it off of their site, you will have to wait on them to put in a order with their Asian suppliers before they ship it to you.

I use to go through these guys for all my Neo Geo stuff and continued to use them to buy a lot of import PS and Saturn stuff. The last time I ordered through them would have been a 2-3 years back when I ordered a couple import Gamecube games.

In regards to their shipping prices, this game was the same price at all import shops that listed it. However, NCSX, was out of stock. So, JVG is not trying just to make up for the low profit of selling a new game.

If someone lives near their shop, it would be interesting to see how much of what they list on their site is actually in store. I think the poster that mention that once they receive an order, they then order, is correct. My second to last e-mail from them stated that they did not know how long it would take to get my game in because it was a special week (maybe golden?) and their suppliers were not taking or shipping any orders.

Lastly, I am not implying that they are scammers. I was simply wondering if there had been some sort of change there. I realize that there will be mix ups. However, to take orders for items you don't have and to charge high shipping costs is a little outdated. Sometimes I am willing to pay high shipping costs but I expect the game to go out in 24-48 hours. I guess my opinion of them right now would be that they are time wasters.

I get all of my "hard to get" stuff from them...

My GC keyboard controller and broadband adaptor...

All my NGH from 96 or 97 and up...

Never had a problem with them at all...

I recommend them to anyone.

I was going to let it go but since this topic gets bumped once in a while, I will add a couple of things.

If you are going to post or post a quote of a post, it would be nice if you read what I wrote.

The issue was not just that the game was out of stock. They did not communicate to me that the game was out of stock, until I e-mailed them a couple of times. They were going to order the game and then ship it out to me once they received it. Since it was a special week in Japan it was going to be the following week before they could order it. This information came to me after I e-mailed them asking again, if my game had shipped.

So, I was going to end up paying 18 dollars for three day shipping and not actually receive the game for a couple of weeks. I really think they need to communicate this to the customer. By the time I found out the above, I could have ordered the game from some where else and recieved it. (I ended up going through Play Asia and got the game a few days later)

I still question how much of their Gamecube import stuff listed as in stock on-line is really in stock. I started ordering from these guys back in the early 90's but had not ordered from them in years. Thus, my question of if there had been any changes at JVG.

This is not a question of these guys being scammers, it was a question of customer service or lack of.

"nuff said" give me a break :smirk:
