Ok, heres this little beauty, for 60$....

Besides the obvious ROM Cart, what would I need say, to run a basic Rom cart game, Not GD-ROM, just anything, lets say Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, or Dead Or Alive.... Just a brief little parts list, but the more detailed the better.

Also, anyway I can check the BIOS without plugging it in? Also, do different BIOS versions matter?

Thanks!

To use it in a JAMMA cab, other than the game cart, you are going to need either a Capcom I/O, or a Sega I/O + sound amp + extra psu; plus all wires to connect everything. Nice score on the Naomi mobo, but they are that cheap and easy to get nowadays. Take care that either of those aditional set-ups you'll need costs around 200$.

Check the hardware part:

About bios, they matter for region (language on screen, few certain games work only in certain region, etc) and if you want to link cabs or use a GD-drive. You can check the version by the letter on the sticker of the bios, D, E, F etc. Not sure if you can tell the region without powering it up and looking at the boot screen.

EPR - 21576 E....

I'll check the region soon, or whenever I get a PSU for this thing... thanks for the info.

Anyone else, feel free to post tips or anything I should look out for.. or whatever may help.

Thanks!

*EDIT*

While i was drooling over this fine piece of machinery, it looks as if I could plug Dreamcast controllers into it.... The black terminals marked.... TOTX195, and TORX194... Is this true?

Those are for the fiber optic connections to link boards. It is possible to connect dreamcast controllers and even use a dreamcast VMU but I believe some sort of adapter is required. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

As dogtoy said, no way, they are not for DC controllers.
In theory it is actually possible to hook DC controllers to the naomi, you just need to build a custom adaptor, but very few games are supposed to support it (MvsC 2 for example), and in some you can use a VMU. Anyway, an I/O has to be present in the USB port for the Naomi to boot up.

I built an adaptor but I have no games to try it with:

It seems that Virtual On works with the VMU... I might just have to try this.

I really wish you could link cabinets over the internet. Can you?

Good question, that might require another topic in itself for needed attention.

if there's a will (and a wallet), there's a way... it might have a pretty crappy response time though... the biggest challenge, I would think, would be syncing up the cabs...

They have an Online Cart, if I'm not mistaken... Never seen one in person though.

I think it's not an on-line cart, it's a communication board to physically connect 2 naomis. It might be possible to do some heavy software modding to reproduce it on-line but it's going to be really hard.

Since the naomi had reached some decent prices, I'm tempted to take one but I'm sceptical when I see all the stuffs to have to plug to play the games. Perhaps I'm too used to the easyness of my MVS 1 slot mobo but it seems a little bit complicated to me.

Good seller Bill Burger on E-bay, (I don't remember his E-bay name, I'll post again) but he sells the Motherboard for 69.99$. Shipping is like 10 bucks. He has quite a few left... so, check it out if you have the chance.
