I'm considering getting a PlayChoice board, but don't know anything about prices. I know there's a single and dual monitor version and would prefer the single. I know it's also non-JAMMA, so if anyone knows were I can get 18 and 22 pin edge connectors, that'd be fantastic.

What do you folks know/think about the PC?

I have a 1942 machine, but teh pcb is a "dedicated' board not like a normal playchoice board where you just have to put in the games in the mobo.

I had one, sadly sold it when i liquidated my shit a while ago. It's great fun, but I'm seeing prices go up (around $50+ on ebay for a dual screen mobo with Mario Bros. on it). Mine had a dual screen board, but I only had 1 screen. I got lucky when i got home with the cab I checked the mobo and the second side had VS. Pinball on it. As far as wiring, I didn't pay much attention to. It is 2 edge connectors both roughly half the size of the jamma.

I'd say it's definately worth it at the right price, You can get a mobo with a game like Hogan's Alley on it for about 20 bones. (finding a gun for a good price is a whole other story). It's worth it, high nostalgia value (for me at least), it's classic NES and resale is decent.. I've been in contact with a few guys on RGVAC that can help you get ahold of eeproms or whatever for the different PPU's that go onto the mobo. (like VS. Castlevania can also play Top Gun)

Hope this helps m8

Was that cab redone? It looks so slick.
Nah, just bought it like that at auction, only prob was that the op who had it before me couldn't find the keys so he wrenched the back door off with a crowbar and took a nice sized notch out of the right side of the cab toward the back. I miss it, the control panel,buttons-joys, and coin door looked brand new.

Me too.... :buttrock:

My Brother in Law has a Playchoice 10..It's Mint,..He restores cabs so I figure he may have made it that way..(I never asked)
I figure he may have restored this cab after the last time I was there he gave me the old control panel from it.. :spock:

Though he has this machine he's not to overly thrilled about it owning it.
Out of all the cabs he has like Asteroids etc he talks about this one the least..

I've tried to poke interest in him by asking if he ever bought any other pcb/games for it..He has but doesn't show the enthusiasm like I do say for like the Neo Geo MVS..

The last time I was at his place I played the crap out of it :) ...He had this machine sitting at his Old house/Dads house for the longest before bringing it to his new house to put with his other machines.
Another reason what makes me think he's not crazy about the machine as he brought all the other machines to his new place long ago.

I've offered to buy it from him but he won't part with it... :(

Not saying anything is wrong with PlayChoice I just can't figure why he's not into this machine at all.. :envy:

I've have been interested in getting a PlayChoice board myself..
The 18 and 22 pin edge connectors is where I pass because I don't know anything about that. :emb:

Sorry I wasn't thinking when I posted, i had a VS unisystem cabinet not a playchoice..Only thing that bothers me about the Playchoice is it works on time. But if you own it you can just max out the counter. The countertop would be super pimp, they get good bids on ebay. I've also seen a full 2-screen playchoice cab loaded with games go for really good cash at auction. Don't remember exactly how much but it was over $500 at Michigan SuperAuctions.
another bonus with those is you can swap roms and play Pac-Man...Definitely would make your re-sale go up.

He may not be as into this system as other because of the game prices... I thought the game boards were rather affordable. Boy was I wrong. They go for anything from $50 to $300 a piece for an NES game... I would love to find a playchoice for cheap and fix it up, but I'm not so sure about buying more games.

Yeah they cost more than the VS. system, but I've seen some decent mobo/game deals in the past. I have seen a lot of the more rare PC-10 games and roms on ebay, they get some good bids. In the end though, like i did with my Unisystem, when I bid on a single game for the system, i have to remind myself that it is the same EXACT thing as the NES version. "Mike, Don't spend anymore than $40 on that game, you can go buy a NES and 10 games for that price." :)
