What do you like better concave pushbuttons or convex?

Personally nothing's better than a happ concave pushbutton.

I've had to deal with shitty convex ones, they feel too cheap..shitty spring, shitty feel..but they were cheapie ones, I've heard good things about the Sanwa (i think that's the brand) convex buttons that are on the candy cabs and such...

The fact that the button is concave or convex really doesn't make much of a difference to me at all. However, the fact that the two usually have different spring tensions does.

I personally prefer happ concave for fighters, as I like to have a solid spring and know that I've hit the button. I don't button mash with fighters, so there's really no issue with me getting fatigue in my hands or anything.

With shooters, I definitely prefer convex buttons with their lighter spring. Banging away on the fire buttons can wear your hand out, so the little force needed to activate most convex buttons is really appreciated in this situation.

Concave buttons suck. They freaking suck. Especially if you're playing a fighter where you have to press 2 buttons simultaniously, like KOF or SamSho. I don't know who's bright idea it was to have arcade buttons be concave in America, but they deserve a donkey kick to the nuts.

If you grew up on concave and only played mostly with them your entire life, that's the only way I could believe someone thought they were better. To me, it sounds the same as someone who would rather play Street Fighter with a SNES pad than a joystick. Crazy talk. But people are adaptable and can adjust to anything, so who knows.

That to me is the greatest part of convex buttons is you don't have to use much pressure to activate it, not to worried about wearing my hands out or anything just easier to do multiple button presses simultaneously and whatnot. I still have difficulty getting used to them though as every arcade I've ever played was concave, as is my cab now. I've thought about switching it over to convex buttons but haven't as yet.

It's wierd for me still with the convex because the timing I've etched into my brain without thinking throws me off. Doing a quarter circle + button or whatever, I'm just so used to knowing exactly when to hit the button (as do most of us) without thinking about it. But with convex since it activates a bit quicker it throws me off a bit and I have to adjust. Which is difficult after playing concave your whole life.

Convex, I cant stand anything else.

Trying to play Neowave at the arcade by me is a pain with the shitty concave buttons and bat style controller. :oh_no:

Concave, simply because I'm just too used to them. 90% of the arcade machines here have concave buttons, even the official capcom ones. And I just didn't got used to the convex ones, it's looks that my fingers will slip over the buttons.

I like Convex better hands down...but not so much on the Sanwa brand. They sit too deep in the hole or something. I wish they stood up a little more. I don't know the names of other brands, but I know the convex that came on my Windy are higher up and a little springy-er.

The flat Sanwa buttons are the ticket for me :buttrock: they just seem to induce less fatigue during long gaming sessions and are more comfortable overall. During short gaming sessions it doesnt seem to really matter to me.

The ones in my Megalo 410 and Astro City cabs are definitely convex, although not by much. Best buttons I've ever used though.
