I love pretty much every game released out on the system. I could make due without a cd setup if it wasn't for a couple games...

What is the normal price range for nonkit carts/gdroms?

Is the banana joystick for Super Monkey Ball special? Does it use a optical 49 way or analog joystick?

Would it be hard for me to wire up custom sticks? I'm planning on running the video through my pc monitor.

Well if your interested in getting a Naomi I might have one for sale in the next couple of days. It's the Naomi 1 mobo with a Capcom I/O board and Capcom vs. SNK.

Are there two setups for Super Monkey Ball? I thought it was controlled by a trackball... was hoping to buy one some day.

I've read that it's possible to use the usb port for controls. Does anyone know how to do this?

There was a complete Monkey Ball set on ebay a couple months back. They wanted $500...

Not sure about the trackball but it certainly has a setup with 2 bananas as joysticks...

Controls are hooked via the USB port, but you need an official I/O or control panel, as far as I know there's no way to use directly custom controllers.

I'm kinda leaning towards getting a naomi setup myself... does the naomi 2 system play naomi 1 games? I think the gd-rom is supposed to work on both systems. What is the advantage of a naomi 2? And, what is the price difference between a 1 and a 2? thanks.

Naomi 2 has Virtua Fighter 4 Final Tuned, Virtua Striker 3, Inital D, and a couple others that aren't worth mentioning.

I'm not sure but I think the GD-Rom works on Naomi 1,2, CHIHIRO, and Triforce boards. Man what I wouldn't do for a CHIHIRO cab...

Naomi 2 setups are a little more expensive, but not much when you add in all the stuff you need to make it work. The price difference is the software. With a couple exceptions like Virtual On all Naomi 1 games are around $100, where Naomi 2 games are astronomical. (to a poor ass college kid anyway)

alright... I just looked at the system 16 arcade museum website, and they say that the naomi 2 plays all the old naomi 1 games, and also uses the same gd-rom. So... I think I'll post a new thred in the wanted section! ps... does the naomi 2 still need the I/o converter, and if so, is the capcom one still the better one?

As it's been said, all Naomi 1 cart and GD games work in a Naomi 2 and the GD drive is the same for both. Other than the ability to play Naomi 2 games a Naomi 2 mobo is almost the same as a Naomi 1 mobo, so all I/O's etc will work on it. In adition, a Capcom I/O works better in a Naomi 2 than in a 1, because in a 2 you should be able to use the GD drive without an aditional psu (which is not possible with the Naomi 1). Check www.sega-naomi.com .

A Naomi 1 mobo costs around 70-90$ now, and a Naomi 2 around 350-400$. Take care that most Naomi 2 games, like Initial D, need special controls or dedicated cab. The only regular games worth the effort of Naomi 2 for me are the VF4 series.

I read somewhere, think it was sega-naomi.com and they say that the Capcom converter has enuff to power a Naomi 2 + GDROM if you turn up the +5 knob on your arcade PSU.

Why wasn't Virtua Fighter 4 released on Naomi 1? This totally sucks ass, there are 15 revisions on 2 but not a single one on 1.

Because a Naomi 1 isn't even close to powerful enough to handle the VF4 series.

You're going to fool around and convince me to buy a Naomi 2 setup... I can't afford it yet I'm fighting the urge. At the moment I would be satisfied with just VF4.
