Connecting a DB15 Cable to a PS Arcade Stick Question.

I have a custom stick wired with a PS1 Dual Shock PCB. From my understanding a DB15 cable can be connected to any controller PCB and work on a NEO GEO System. So my question is can I connect the DB15 cable directly to the microswitches or do I have to connect it to the PCB? I have a Neo to PS controller converter, but I do not like the button layout for figthing games.

Yeah, you can connect directly to the microswitches, but be aware that the circuitry on the PCB may cause bad feedback in the stick. I modded a Hori PS2 Fighting Stick with a DB-15 and it had crossed signals where something like pushing left also activated down and A. I cut the traces on the PCB to get it working. I noticed that 2V was going through the traces which seemed to cause problems.

I plan on using this as a multi system stick. I will play it safe and use the microswitches. If it doesn't work, at least it won't be as messy as soldering directly to the PCB. Thanks

I planned multisystem functionality too, but that was a mistake since I'd have to have the lines all switched for PS function.

So your saying it doesn't work. Sorry for being stupid but I'm not really understading your second comment. (since I'd have to have the lines all switched for PS function)

Also will it work if I use a seperate PCB connected to the same buttons?

the best way to get multisystem fuctionality is to wire it up to the db15 neo layout, then build a db15 -> ps2 adapter (with the psx controller pcb in there)

Yeah, that's the best option.

What I was saying was that if you want the PS2 and Neo functions to both work, you have to cut the line to the other. So you'd need switches (like an 8PDT) to do it.

D-Lite: I was thinking about that last night, I just didn't know what I needed to perform that type of task. Thanks

I know about Lime2K suggestion, but my stick is already wired up, so I was hoping I could work around it.

wouldn't it need to be a 10PST? you've got a start and select button in there, too...

So I'm assuming I will need two swtiches. One for each PCB. Correct me if I'm wrong.
