I noticed the fist 2 digits of the AW carts serial number is always the same for the same title, so this is a unique way to identify them. This could lead to discover if certain games were released, etc. Can somebody confirm this theory and help me fill the blanks?

This is the known AW list with the numbers I already know, somehow ordered by year and release date:

2003:

Guilty Gear X 1.5 (01)
Premier Eleven
Maximum Speed (04)
Sports Shooting USA (05)
Demolish Fist (06)
Dolphin Blue (07)
Sushi Bar
Knights of Valour Seven Spirits (09)

2004:

Guilty Gear Isuka (11)
Salaried Worker Golden Taro
Force Five
Rumble Fish (14)
Dirty Pigskin Football
Extreme Hunting
Chase 1929
Faster Than Speed
The King of Fighters Neowave (18)
NS Keiba
Ranger Mission (21)

2005:

Rumble Fish 2 (26)
Ken Ju
Neo Geo Battle Colosseum (28)
Samurai Tenka (30)
KOF XI (32)

Thanks!

On my Dolphin Blue kit (from the NeoStore) the main label on the box is clearly a 2nd sticker and I can sort of make out the text underneath:

It looks like it says "AQUADIA" which is the planet in Dolphin Blue, so that might be the pre-production name. But the first 2-digits of the serial number are definitely not "07"; it's either 03 or 08 -- hard to say since the 7 on the top sticker is blocking that part.

I'm guessing it's 03 because changing the name later would only up the serial. But if anyone can see through the top sticker better, it'd be nice to know.

Anywho, hope that helps ^_^

What do you mean by "box"? The serial I'm talking about is in the cart itself, like this Demolish Fist one:

I've had two Dolphin Blue carts and both had a 07, of course it may be possible that there are games with more than a number, I just started this thread to see if people could confirm or deny it.

On the box the kit comes in there's a large sticker with the name and serial number (like MVS kits):

full.jpg

The sticker on my Dolphin Blue box was placed over another sticker. Also, that number on the front flap that reads "9095-5840" is printed under another number that's crossed out w/ a sharpie (9095-5250).

Anyway, I can kinda see through that sticker on the top and read what's under it. Where the English Title is printed it says "AQUADIA" and the first part of the serial for that covered sticker isn't 07, it's 03 (or 08.. can't really tell).

I'm guessing they made a certain number of boxes with the name Aquadia before changing it to Dolphin Blue. So if you're theory about the serials being prefixed w/ a Game Number is correct, then 03 or 08 is for this older version of DB.

Hope that helps clear it up ^_^

As I said, I'm not talking about the number in the box, but the one in the cart. Can you see which number does your cart have?

The serial on the cart IS the serial on the box. They're made to match. Like with MVS Kits for collectors it's important to have matching serials (cart & box). So it doesn't matter which you look at.

On my Kit's box: for the sticker that says DOLPHINBLUE, the serial starts with 07 and the entire thing matches the serial on my cart. Under that sticker on the box, there's yet another sticker, with another name and another serial -- for a game that doesn't exist.

So, that other serial (that starts with 03 or 08) was ment to match up with a cart whose serial would be prefixed by 03 or 08. Since AQUADIA doesn't exist, you may never find a game that starts with one of those numbers -- and above is the reason.

I just noticed that my Dolphin Blue kit was different from the other ones I've seen, so I thought I'd help out your list with the info I had. At the VERY least, it's a neat Atomiswave Factoid.

Feel free to delete these posts if you feel it detracts from the thread and your project.. I was just trying to be helpful -- but apparently it turned into a lot of spam and for that I apologize.

Please, don't worry, your input is very appreciated, it's just that I didn't understand what you were trying to say (English is my third language). Now I do and I'll keep that on mind.

Thanks for your help, definately it's not spam. And again my apologies. Anyway I can't delete posts :p

So are you sure these games never saw an official release? As tooshort says we know Ken Ju had some loke tests in Japan not so long ago, so we still don't know if it is just delayed or definately canceled.

Anyway, even if those games were not released, I'm pretty sure they have one of that numbers assigned, as otherwise there are too many blanks on the list. I am not going to be as obsessed as Billy Pitt for that numbers, nor I would pay thousands of $ for "proto carts" of them, but still it would be nice to know them (or even get them if they are not insanely expensive).

Thanks for the info.

Dirty Pigskin Football is out someone told me they had played it. They did'nt know though whether it was analogue or digital though as the sticks on it are big footballs...

I would'nt mind getting it but if i can't use normal sticks then its a waste of time.

Well, baseley reported that he played Dirty Pigskin:

http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=129667

The distribution of certain AW games seems really weird. Appearently that game was never released in the USA but at least one copy is floating in the UK. Same goes with Premier Eleven (at least this game makes more sense in Europe than USA) and Chase 1929. And then we have Japanese games that appearently were never officially released in Japan like Force Five, Kenju and Sushi Bar.

Updated with KOF XI info thanks to RingoC. Come on guys, I'm only missing Samurai Tenka from the regular games, and a bunch of the released games that need special controls. When I have this data I might start to speculate with the missing numbers.

Sorry for gravedigging, but I found some interesting pictures, that I want to share with you. I can only assume, that the language differences between the carts (JP vs. EN) lead to the different first two digits of the serial number. Can anyone confirm this thesis? Example: the japanese set of MS6 has digits 35, followed by the english release with 36.
BTW: the upper picture is NGBC.

EDIT: Here's a list I compiled so far. All releases have been checked on real pics. So I guess my thesis was right, although not every JP release saw the light of day in EN regions and vice versa of course. Note: GGX 1.5 has several regions on the cart, so I favored the EN one. And I couldn't find a picture for Ranger Mission (21). Should be EN though.

01 EN Guilty Gear X 1.5
05 EN Sports Shooting USA
06 EN Demolish Fist
07 EN Dolphin Blue
09 JP Knights Of Valour
11 EN Guilty Gear Isuka
14 EN The Rumble Fish
17 JP The King Of Fighters Neowave
18 EN The King Of Fighters Neowave
19 EN Faster Than Speed
21 Ranger Mission
25 JP Horse Racing
26 EN The Rumble Fish 2
27 JP Neo Geo Battle Coliseum
28 EN Neo Geo Battle Coliseum
29 JP Samurai Spirits VI
30 EN Samurai Shodown VI
31 JP The King Of Fighters XI
32 EN The King Of Fighters XI
33 JP Fist Of The North Star
34 EN Fist Of The North Star
35 JP Metal Slug 5
36 EN Metal Slug 6
38 EN Extreme Hunting 2
40 EN Maximum Speed

25/40
